This is what you need when you visit a city. No frills. Clean and quiet rooms, good service, close to the city centre and a lot of complimentary stuff you so you can travel light. A colleague received a bottle of wine because the airco was broken. Temperatures didn't require one, but the compensation was given without asking. Considerate staff and good management.

I loved the bathroom amenities in this quaint hotel that's conveniently located opposite the Groningen Medical Centre. The buffet breakfast in the coffee house had a good variety of foodstuff and the staff were helpful & friendly. Enjoyed my stay there!

I stayed at the NH for a couple of nights last month and was not overly impressed. Location was ok, only a short walk from the centre, and thankfully my room was at the back of the hotel, the noise from the hospital at the front may be disturbing at night-time (not that I have any proof). Buffet breakfast was sub-standard, no seperate room, just sitting in the foyer of the hotel. The rooms were nice but a little aged, the large bathroom was good and the free shampoo's etc were actually quite good for a change! No mini-bar but the view from the 9th floor was quite impressive.
Overall, an average hotel which could be improved with some investment.

I got two of us in for four nights in two rooms for 59 euros per night each - a massive reduction!! At this price it was stunning value - 8 foot wide bed, two armchairs, view over the city, etc. Breakfast was just fine (extra). On the down side, there is no facility for printing out from a computer. Close to city centre. For excellent meals at a good price go to the Beer House (Huis de Beurs - or something like that) in Vis Market just off the centre by the Bourse.
