The hotel was just ok.
THE GOOD POINTS:
-Great internet access
-Professional massage service.
-Great service on the Club Level. The club room was nicely decorated and felt warm and inviting.
IMPROVEMENT NEEDED:
-We checked in on the club level only to find out that there were no rooms available on that level....though we booked in advance. We however got upgraded to the Presidential Suite which was a good effort and intention by the young man who checked us in. Unfortunately, the Presidential Suite in my estimation was not up to Presidential Suite standard and we would have preferred to stay in a normal room instead. I know a little about interior decorating and have stayed in Presidential Suites before in North America, Europe and the Caribbean....The carpet needed cleaning or replacing, the layout of the furniture was dish-dashed, the walls needed bigger paintings and mirrors.
-The beach was mushy was wasn't pleasant to swim in, especially with the ongoing construction beside the resort.
-The pool was a yeast infection waiting to happen. There was algae in the crevice of the pool and it was very visible almost everywhere. We called management and brought their attention to the issue and we were told that they are aware of the problem which they are hoping to get resolved in a few weeks. In the mean time, you could possible catch something.
The staff in the reception-main lobby area need to learn a thing or two about service and warm welcoming. This is the first point of contact with arriving guests and you need to at least give them a good first hand impression of the resort.
Would I go back to this resort? I don't think so. Would I recommend it, I don't think so either.
Hopefully, they will improve the standard of service and charge more if need be. Good luck.

We recently booked two rooms and after checking in opened the doors to our rooms to find they were not what we had requested. Spent valuable time, since we were only staying one night, discussing this issue with management . They were not very polite or helpful until they realized we were not leaving the counter until this situation was resolved. For the amount of money we were paying I expected a higher quality of service. I would not recommend this hotel there are many other choices in Qatar.

Spent the Easter weekend at the IC in Doha. It was fantastic. Apparently lobby has just been renovated and it is very light, spacious and quite grand. Checked in on Club Floor - great service, nothing too much trouble. Club lounge has good breakfasts, afternoon tea, great canapes in the evening, internet access.
Had 2 rooms - 1 king bed and one with 2 doubles - facing the pool and ocean. Rooms were very large, well equipped. Loved the huge bathroom with enormous shower, bath etc. Many little extra touches.
Pool area is fantastic but gets quite crowded on weekends as a lot of locals/expats have health club membership. My husband used the gym (open 24 hours) and loved it - plenty of equipment, never too crowded.
We tried all the hotel restaurants, with the exception of the buffet. However, had a quick peek at the buffet on Easter Sunday and it looked fantastic - loads of fresh seafood...... (and it was packed with locals).
Mexican restaurant is great - we ordered way too much food and couldn't finish, as we had been filling up on the constantly-replenished chips and dips.
Fish Market (seafood) on the beach - outstanding. Again - superb food.
Za Moda Italian - again - fantastic. Pizza and pasta to die for......
We also tried the downstairs breakfasts a couple of times - just for a change - and the variety was excellent - good mix of Arab and western foods, pastries, eggs, cheeses, meats, breads, even a chocolate fountain and fruit sushi!
Most days we had lunch at the pool bar - sometimes the waiters were a little stressed as it was so busy, but the food was good and reasonably priced I thought.
Staff were all very friendly, tried hard to please, remembered our names (and the hotel was very full).
Definitely do the desert safari (hotel can arrange) as it is amazing - felt just like I was in a travel brochure for a very exotic destination....
Cannot wait to go back.
P S There may be more upmarket hotels in Doha (4 Seasons, Ritz Carlton) but the IC is definitely a great place for a relaxing break, not too snobby but still upmarket, 5 star quality, friendly........

We chose this hotel for a one night stopover between long haul flights in January and again in February and could not have made a better choice. On both occasions our room was very spacious, well furnished and had really comfortable beds. There was lots of wardrobe and storage space, had we needed it, and chilled drinking water, tea and coffee were complimentary.
The bathroom was also spacious with bath, twin wash bowls, bidet, WC and lots of quality toiletries. Bath robes and slippers were supplied and the towels were plentiful, thick and fluffy.
The hotel stands in beautiful grounds with lots of sun beds and shades, there is an enormous outdoor pool and the beach is only a few steps away. Sadly we had no time to make use of these facilities.
By making an online booking well ahead, on a no refund basis, we obtained a very attractive rate and although the hotel is a bit far from the airport, the drive time is only 20/25 minutes and taxis are plentiful and cheap.
Any future stopovers which we make in Doha will certainly be at this excellent hotel.

A long way from the airport, and I arrived late at night to find that they did not have the non-smoking room available that I had booked. Indifferent manager could have cared less, and was only too happy to take my $400 for the nights stay with little effort to accomodate me in a different room, or offer a discount.
The room that I finally received reeked of cigar smoke, and the two beds consisted of roll-away cots. Terrible experience. Definately NOT up to Intercon standards.
Nice restaurant, terrific breakfast - the ONLY redeeming factor in my stay. There are much nicer 5* hotels in Doha, with a better location and similar price.
Never again.
