"We were in Iceland for a weekend break and this hotel was absolutely fantastic. The service was great, the staff were helpful and friendly, the food was good (breakfast buffet was a little sparse though) and the room was comfortable and spacious. To top it all off, it was in the perfect location; only..."

Great staff, great breakfast !

I have just returned from a very short stay in Reykjavik. I booked a double room even though I was traveling by myself but I figured that what I would have more space. Arriving really really late at night ( 12 AM ), I made sure that the check - in would be no problem and called ahead. The staff was great from the beginning and not just helped me sort out which companies to use for whale watching and horseback riding, but also recommended a great Thai restaurant. Breakfast, which is included in the price is served between 7-10 and does offer a pretty good choice of cereal , cold cuts , jam etc. as well as fruits. The room was on the small side but had a desk, TV and telephone. The shower was very clean but so tiny that it was impossible to turn around when the door was open but it sufficed for the two days that I was there. I also left my MP3-Player in the room when I checked out and called them when I got back home . They checked right away and sent the MP3 Player to Germany ! All in all, this is a hotel I would highly recommend if you do not need fancy design.

OK...

Room was OK - clean and functional, though with a very small bathroom. Breakfast was poor in everyway: choice, quality and setting. Location was quite good (5-10 mins walk from the town centre) and the hotel offers free parking. So: far from the best hotel in Reykjavik, but it's relatively well-priced and has a reasonable location. You could probably do worse.

I give this hotel an averge rating as it was average in my opinion, room very basic - generally clean but a few stains on the towels when we got there (ew!) and sink plug in bathroom not working. But bed was comfy & nice pictures on the wall. Small room - even smaller shower!! I Still have bruises on my elbows from trying to get clean in that minute bathroom. Quiet location, staff very helpful & friendly - ample tourist info in the hotel. Couple of mins walk from main bus station , 10 mins walk from main shopping street - brill! Breakfast was fine in nice surroundings - though I did not really fancy the marianated fish after a night on the viking beer! Choose this hotel if you are looking for a comfortable place to sleep after a hard day enjoying the sights of Iceland.

WE stayed here for a week in October. We Paid $91 which is a steal in Iceland, so we had no expectations. The hotel has no frills but the rooms a very clean and remarkably quite. The staff were very helpful, we used them often. The free breakfast is a nice bonus, although maybe not the greatest choice but it is free and in Iceland you need to save money anywhere you can. The location is also great you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. I was looking at thr Hotel Nodica which is very expensive and the location is terrible, you would need to take a cab everywhere. Thats all enjoy your stay.

A good deal in an expensive city

The Fosshotel Lind is far from luxurious, but given what's available in Reykjavik, it's something of a bargain. If you buy a Skanplus card, you get both a rate reduction and a sixth night free in any member hotel in Scandinavia. The location is good -- away from the bar scene noise but close enough to walk to everything. And the staff is friendly. We especially appreciated that they let us check in at 8 a.m. when our overnight flight arrived. No hotel in the U.S. would allow a morning check-in for that night! Rooms are small and bathrooms especially small. Ask for a room in back to escape the street noise. As for activities, the Golden Circle is impressive, but we preferred the "South Coast and Porsmork" tour run by Gray Line. Lots of waterfalls, glaciers and short hikes in a very cool ATV bus that does multiple river crossings.
