Having booked a week HB for ?299.00 through LASTMINUTE we were uncertain what to expect. The trip was an INGHAMS ski holiday & normally ?498 so a good start. The hotel has a great location, centre of the village, right by the slopes/lifts. The previous comments on the food supplied are sadly still true. The food was passable (especially at ?299 for the week) but only iif you got there soon after it was availble & therefore vageuly warm. It was mostly 1970's style food (but this is Lapland - maybe that's the latest thing..??). If I had paid full price for my trip then I would have been pretty unhappy. The rooms are clean, warm, etc. & the staff friendly enough, etc. The ski-ing here isn't great unless you are a beginner, it is not a "mountain resort", more of a "big hill resort". The good thing is that being so far north this big hill has plenty of great quality snow The Finnish obsession with kareoke is scary, surely there's an EEC directive against this kind of behaviour? Overall though a fun holiday was had, if there had been blizzards & no ski-ing however I am not sure the resort has much to offer by way of alternatives... Oh, & I met Santa....., good for all the children..., even the 42 year old children....

Went to Ruka on 21January with Inghams. First time skiing. Ruka is a lovely place, amazing scenery. Hotel was ok, had a standard room which was very comfortable. Hotel states that there are lifts to all floors but it looks like the standard rooms are in the old part of the building where you have to go up the lift along a corridor, down some stairs then if you are on the upper floor, up another set of spiral metal stairs, which can be quite interesting carrying luggage. Breakfast in the hotel is lovely, very wide selection but evening meal left alot to be desired. There was not much choice and what there was seemed to be over cooked or soggy, desert seemed to consist of angel delight for a couple of nights! However, as I said RUka itself is beautiful and lots to do, lots of walks and plenty of hot chocolate!!!

I, my partner, and our friends stayed at the Rukahovi Hotel in Ruka from 28 Jan to 4 Feb on a half board package. This holiday was promoted by Inghams as "World Class Skiing" and the hotel is designated as 4 Star. We also upgraded to deluxe/superior rooms. On the positive side, the hotel was very good: very nice rooms, excellent position, clean and comfortable. However, on the negative side, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. While breakfasts were fine, the dinners were very poor. The choice was very limited, the food was generally "processed" and overcooked, and the plates were always cold. Also, the three courses comprised of a very limited (and always the same) range of basic salad items, the limited main course, and just one dessert. Frankly, it was like poor school dinners! Also, the staff were very lax at clearing used plates, etc from table, and more often than not, we had to do it ourselves. Having said that, the location was great, right by the lifts. The skiing was good, if somewhat limited, with plenty of snow. It was very cold - be warned! Take plenty of layers and don't expose any bare skin for long. Balaclavas or face masks are recommended.
