I recommend this hotel for: A romantic getaway, Families with teenagers, Families with young children, Girlfriend getaway, Older travelers, Tourists, Young singles, People with disabilities.
Adequate but doesn't deserve 4 stars. Be careful of hidden costs. I was there with a group of about 20 for a nearby conference. It was clean but the room was less than expected for a four-star. Breakfast will keep you alive until lunch but was nothing special. The biggest problem was the surprise charges when we checked out. I accidently spilled some wine on the side of the bed and they tried to charge me 650+ Euro for a new bed and mattress. My colleague had spilled some red wine on his mattress (about 20 cm stain) and they charged him over 400 Euro to replace the mattress. Others had to pay for new towels they said were too stained. They threatened police and law suits. I've never heard of that kind of policy by a hotel. Accidents happen. But this seems to be how they keep their furniture fresh. So be very, very careful if you stay there. Better yet, stay at one of the other, better four stars in the area.

I booked a confirmed stay in this hotel for two singel rooms. After arriving in the hotel the clerk leaded me in the "dependance". It was another hotel only three star level in the surrounding. I tried hard to get the booked rooms, but was not successfull. They gave me a reduction of only 5 € and treated me unfriendly.

I stayed at the Schlosshotel last year and it was adequate. I reserved a deluxe room and found the room to be very small. Went back downstairs to the main desk and explained that I reserved a deluxe room and expected a room a little larger. The clerk was very pleasant and moved me to another room that was twice the size, albeit with two single beds. I wasn't going to complain again and decided to stay in the 2nd room. The hotel is directly across the street from the Hauptbahnhof and adjacent to the Tiergarten. Having not been to Karlsruhe since 1986, I was pleasantly surprised to see that not much had changed in the city. Karlsruhe is noted for its "sunny" weather in the summer and the city did not disappoint. I normally stay in 4 or 5 star hotels and this hotel certainly wasn't up to that level nor do they claim to be. All in all, it was an average hotel with minimal amenities.
