Typical "Lobby Hotel". Nice and inviting lobby. The rest of the hotel is in a worn out 80 kinda style. All that I can live with, The front desk manager's attitude is terrible. Makes John Cleese and fawlty towers look like all saints.

Stayed at this hotel for one night only, that was enough. Possibly the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. Rooms, toilet and shower were so small. I had a set of earplugs at my bedside and wondered what they would be for. I found out when the drilling and building work started at 07.15. Makes a Travelinn seem like a six star hotel.

The location of this hotel is great, but the rooms were quite disapointing. They are small with many features (i.e. blinds or curtains on the windows) absent. Only 3 blocks from the train station. Some of the front desk staff were quite unhelpful the monring breakfast (included) as quite good. I would likely stay somewhere else if I come back here again.

Stayed with friends for 2 nights to watch the excellent 80s festival at the park 20 minutes walk away. The hotel is a bit dated and needs a bit of a facelift really,£60 per room for 2 twin beds. The room reminded me of my daughters rooms of residence in Norwich! a bit studentist, especially the bed.The room was very warm,no air con,but I suppose they dont need it much here. The big problem with that is tough, is that if your room overlooks the square, you cannot have your windows open at night because the Danes do not tend to go out untill midnight! and seem to drink right through untill breakfast! Superb if you are out with them, as they are great fun and we met some very friendly middle age people who seemed to love talking in English to us.Yes the square is very noisey at night so dont expect a good nights sleep if you are a light sleeper,or ask for a room overlooking the car park.It is quite expensive in the square too,so look out for some lovely little back street bars.A burger and chips in "Louises" bar in the square was £9 ! The pool bar is great fun with good hosts. All in all a lovely weekend break destination but not really a 4 star hotel.

The hotel in the marketing leaflets in the rooms saus its a 4-star boutique hotel. Does it feel like the claim? No way!
When I arrived, the first room was on the main square of the town - likely to be rather noisy on a Saturday night, so I asked for a different room. Didn't have time to check the room, so just took the key, and caught the train to Ribe that left 5 mins later.
Got back to Esbjerg, and walked into the room. The carpet was covered in stains - looks like it needed not just a vaccuum, but a professional clean urgently. (Oh and there was also an unpleasant smell in the room). Person at reception gave me a different key. Went to the new room, and found the blind over the bathroom window was lying rusty on the floor, so anyone looking through the window could see me going to the toilet (window was not frosted). Try for another room, and got one. Carpet seemed reasonably clean, and smell wasn't too bad. Get into bed, only to realise that the music wasn't going to stop, and reception told me it was a wedding in the hotel. The music would not stop until 4 am - fair enough for a wedding, but couldn't they sound-proof the main party room, so the other guests could sleep (it was 2 am by this time) ? Get dressed, and find another room - at least it was quiet. Lighting in the room was very poor (just 1 small desk lamp for the entire room), but by this time, didn't care, just wanted to sleep.
Woke up in the morning to find the carpet was filthy, there was still an unpleasant smell in the room. Then found that hidden behind the shower curtain was not a shower, but instead a one-third size bath that I could not squeeze into.
People might go on about how the furniture in the hotel is amazing - all I could see by Jacobsen was one small chair in the room covered in a bland cushion - everything else looked very ordinary.
Made it to breakfast in the morning - standard was akin to a 2-star place, not a 4-star.
To summarise - the standard reminded me of a dillapidated hotel in a provincial town in a former Communist stae. There has to be somewhere better to stay
