I had a great stay in Pestana Curitiba. I travelled around the world and I would put this hotel in the 5 star range. Staff were is very polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good locationm it is only about 3 blocks away from the mall – Shopping Curitiba, and 1 block away from the mall - Crystal. The Pestana is a good choice. There is plenty of good eating and shopping near this hotel.

I accompanied my husband on a business trip to Curitiba and we stayed at the Pestana. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. They all spoke English which was helpful since we speak very little Portuguese. They were always willing to help with directions for getting around town. The rooms were small, but nice with a modern flare. They are showing their age a little bit, but nothing to complain about. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great with a large selection. The fitness center was small, but good enough for a jog on the treadmill. The hotel is in a good location. It isn’t in the heart of downtown, but it is only about 3 blocks away from the mall – Shopping Curitiba. It is also surrounded by great restaurants. Don’t miss GRIMPA, a short walk to the left of the hotel. The food and service was beyond wonderful. Better than most we’ve had in the US. It beats the food and service you could receive at the best places in Las Vegas for half the price. Another fabulous place is Avenida Paulista Pizza Bar about 2 blocks away. The Pestana is a good choice. There is plenty of good eating and window shopping near this hotel.

When you step off the elevator on your floor, you walk into total darkness. A few (longish) seconds later, sensors turn some lights on overhead. I guess they're trying to be eco-friendly or something, but it is creepy and the light, even when it comes on, is very dim - I could barely see my room number. Very weird and not at all appealing. I went for a business trip and the Internet access in my room was not working the entire time. They even sent an electrician in at 10 pm to try to fix it; he could not, and did not come back to explain (I speak fluent Portuguese so language was not a barrier to any explanations). Basically I had from 9 am to 10 pm to use the business center as the only way to access the Internet; of course, the trade show ended at 9 pm so it was very inconvenient to have the business center close so early; as well, I had meetings all day so I really did need Internet access prior to 9 am. Basically the Pestana is OK but if you are a business traveller and need Internet access and light to see by when you walk down the hall, then go to the Four Points Sheraton and skip the Pestana.

I stayed at the Pestana for a week while in Curitiba on business. The hotel is very well located in a professional neighborhood with nearby restaurants, bookstores, and shopping. The hotel was very clean, the staff was welcoming and helpful. The front-desk staff spoke English, while other staff had varying degrees of proficiency. The breakfast buffet is a complete meal, not only pastries and coffee, but also eggs, sausage and bacon, cereals, juices, fresh fruit, etc. Room service and bar food were also excellent, fresh-tasting and made to order. The weather was quite cool, so I never used the pool. Other members of my group used the exercise equipment. I plan to stay here again whenever I'm in Curitiba, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant hotel in a good neighborhood.

I was in Curitiba for a conference and our group stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. From the beginning we had problems with the hotel management, we had been told that breakfast was included in the rate we had negotiated(the price for the room was already significantly higher than usual because of the conference), however when we arrived, the hotel told us that we had to pay for breakfast (12$ for a horrible breakfast buffet). After a couple of days, our group was informed that the hotel was overbooked and others who were supposed to join us for the conference would not have rooms. Some people in our group were asked to share rooms. Even though I never agreed to share a room, I arrived one night to find that all my stuff had been removed from my room. When I went to reception, I was told that my stuff had been moved to another room, which I would now be sharing with a colleague. My colleague and I were understandibly very upset about this happening without our consent or any warning. To make matters worse, my passport and plane ticket were still in the safe in my old room. When we asked to speak to the manager, we had to wait 20 minutes and he came out to tell us that he would investigate the matter, but would not agree to give us any compensation for this invasion of privacy. I insisted on keeping the room I had been assigned and the hotel did, after much arguing, move all my stuff back, but they never even apologized or try to make it up to us. This is supposed to be a 4 or 5 star hotel. The hotel's only excuse was that they were overooked! I found out that the same thing had happened to 2 other people in our group. I travel a lot for work and I have to say I have never had such a bad experience in any hotel. I will never stay in any Pestana hotel ever again and will write to their headquarters to make a complaint.
