"This was our first trip to Venice and we chose the hotel Antiche Figure. The hotel is conveniently situated near the Piazzale di Roma and just opposite the train station. The staff was very helpful, and a special mention should go to Linda in the breakfast room who was very attentive and went "that extra..."

My wife and I stayed 26/06/08 for 2 nights but wished we were staying longer, and can honestly say this is a great hotel. We had a room overlooking the Grand Canal with a small balcony. The room was excellent and quite spacious with a good sized bathroom and shower. The staff where very pleasant and helpful, The dining room offered a good selection of food for a continental breakfast at a reasonable 7 euros. Although being opposite the railway station is probably not the best view on theGrand Canal it made for a lively scene and this placed it very near the bridge to cross to the Vaperetto stops, and with the passes we had purchased at the airport, this allowed us to have unlimited rides on the local transport placing us very near all the sights. The hotel was also 5 minutes walk from Piazalle Roma where we collected our hire car for our onward journey. I can recomend this hotel to anyone for a stay inVenice and will happily return on the next possible occasion.

I had a wonderful stay in this hotel. It is situated on the Grand Canal, very convenient to vaporetto stops and the railway station, and a great base to explore Venice. The staff were professional, charming and very Venetian (especially Alessandro....mmm...). The facilities were excellent: classy room, comfortable bed, a roomy bathroom with drying facilities (it rains alot in Venice...), free internet, good breakfast (the best soft-boiled eggs), and competent airconditioning. I enjoyed every minute at this hotel, and I found myself looking forward to getting away from the crowds to relax in my room. When I needed help with tours, again the staff were very helpful. I plan to return here, it is good value for money and I thoroughly recommend it.

Great small hotel away from the madness

Wonderful small hotel right on the Grand Hotel. Located away from the madness of the tousit areas...yet diretly across the canal from the train station and a few blocks walk to the bus station...the 2 ways into and out of Venice. The front desk people are great...reallyu care about their guests...and very helpful in finding neighborhood restaurants. One of the great bargains of Italy is the 24-hour pass on the water buses...take your own tour of Venice by day and night and go see the islands (Burano and Murano). Tip: BUy the ticket in early evening, go for a tour that evening..and then use it for the next day to see the islands. We found food in Vencie to be expensive and not great...but try to find the true neighborhood restaurants for an interesting evening and good food. We were careful regarding pickpockets but did have any problems.

My husband and I just returned from a Mediterranean cruise and stayed at Antiche Figure for 2 nights before the departure of the Emerald Princess from Venice. Once flying into Venice we took the ACTO bus to Piazza Roma. The bus is right outside the exit of the baggage area of the airport so it was very convenient. Look for a yellow ticket machine. Once you put your 3 euros in ( it gives change), validate it in another machine near it before the bus comes. When you arrive at Piazza Roma (very busy area) you have a decision to make before going to the hotel. How will you get there. We are in our 60's and pulling our luggage over 2 stepped bridges nearly killed us. If you are young, you could walk to the hotel. If not,. take a water taxi at the Piazza. ( Even young people were struggling with their luggage) The hotel was fantastic and the room 411 overlooking the canal was so much fun. When you take a shower, you can open the bathroom window and look at the beautiful green dome right next to you. There are two windows that you can open over the canal and see and hear all of the action, but once you close the windows, we couldn't hear anything. Amazing! We could see the Railway Station right across the canal. The breakfast in the morning was typical European and we loved the little cappicino machine. Take your breakfast out to the tables in front of or the side of the hotel to eat. Don't miss the action. We couldn't understand why people would eat in the breakfast room. The staff was outstanding and very pleasant. They answered any question you could think of and drew maps for anywhere. We can't say enough about the hotel and you won't be disappointed. My husband and I have traveled to Europe 5 times and would definitely stay at this hotel again. We paid about 300 euros a night for the room ( directly booked, but don't forget, you are on the canal and nothing is cheap in Venice). Going to the cruise ship, we shared a taxi with another couple we met a the hotel and then it was cheaper. Ask the desk if someone would need to also go to the ship. We paid 40 euros instead of 80 and it was well worth it. It is farther than you think to the cruise terminal if you have 2 suitcases a piece and dragging them over many steps on bridges. Have fun!

We stayed at this hotel in June 2008 and all the rave reviews were right on! The hotel is beautiful and the staff are all uniformly pleasant and go out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. This location is excellent because it's away from the main tourist areas of San Marco Square but is located near water bus stops and you can get anywhere you want easily and quickly. Only 1 warning - This is not a hotel for people who are frail, with bad backs or with disabilities. If you arrive from the airport by bus, this hotel requires you to traverse 2 bridges from the Piazzale Roma each with at least 10 steps up and back down. Or if you arrive at the train station which is literally across the canal from the hotel, you must climb a bridge with 50 steps up and the same number down...easy with no luggage but quite a workout if you are carrying 50 lb. bags with you. Be forewarned. Make sure you get restaurant recommendations from the front desk staff. All were very good and we were never disappointed. All in all, an excellent hotel experience and I would unhesitatingly recommend it to any traveller.
