Parking was easy and reception had a nice friendly feel to it. The receptionist was pleasant and swiftly checked me in.
The room was spacious but had a shabby look to it, the coffee spots on the wall by the bed and some stains on the carpet didn't help the overall view.
The bed was very comfortable and the linen crisp and clean so no issues there. The bathroom was tiny but adequate - I don't think the layout had been thought through as the WC was placed so close to the adjacent wall that the toilet roll holder was an obstruction! However it was clean.
I ordered room service which wasn't good. Although it arrived quickly it was luke warm and quite bland, dessert was no better. I should have complained but I was exhausted and consoled myself that a full breakfast was included so I'd survive until morning.
I ordered Bacon, egg, tomato and mushrooms (note the plural - as per the menu) for breakfast and was immediately disappointed that my mushrooms turned out to be 1/2 a 35mm mushroom and the scrambled egg was a small circular affair- tight or what?
With a little attention to the rooms and a review of their food services this hotel could be a nice comfortable stay, however I won't be staying again.
When I checked out in the morning the receptionist didn't ask if everything had been OK with my stay - perhaps because she feared the answer? Who knows!

The hotel's website does not do it justice - the reception area is extensive and comfortable, and the bar area very pleasant. Furnishings are lovely. Our room was also spacious and well equipped, if the tiniest tiniest bit shabby (some wall paper edges were peeling, and the bath mat had seen better days).
The receptionist was very friendly and did her best to allow us to check in early, as we were needing to get changed for an event.
Bar service was slow, and bar food was a little pricey, but nice when it arrived.
Overall - a very reasonable price for the night, and ideally located for The Priory.

Reserved a non-smoking room, however none was available. No effort made to fix problem.
Room was not only cigarette-infused, with a cigarette burn on the bed cover, but was sorely in need of an update. We are talking furniture at least 30-40 years old.
On the positive side, staff in the restaurant were most attentive and pleasant, and the food was acceptable.

we have had several meals organised as family events there, and the food has routinely been at best mediocre. The vegetarian fare made available was poorer than is available in beefeter restaurants (no mean feat), and although the non-veggie food is of adequate quality, the desserts were distinctly average. The Fruit Salad was 95% apple (hardly mixed) and the profiteroles seemed to be welded together with brown sugar syrup, and were unbearably sickly sweet.
The venue itself appears to have no facilities to change nappies, which one would not expect in a family orientated hotel.
To top it all,the webpage has a typographical error on it, which indicates the approach of the venue.
This is mitigated somewhat by the level of service provided by the friendly and helpful staff, but I would not book a stay here.

Staff friendly & efficient. Excellent breakfast - freshly cooked (becoming a rarity these days). But very small (single) room. Clean but bath very unsightly due to staining and wallpaper needs replacing. It provided a comfortable one night stay but I'm not certain I would want a longer stay in such cramped conditions.
