We stayed at this hotel following a recommendation by friends. We spent 3 nights over the 4th July weekend, and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very stylish and rooms are nicely furnished. We stayed on the third floor and had a balcony overlooking the front entrance. All staff were courteous and efficient and when we ordered room service the food was tasty and service good. The rooftop pool is the real bonus at this hotel, and with views across West Hollywood you really feel like your having an 'LA' experience. The hotel is nicely situated just off of Sunset and close to all the bars/restaurants we made reservations at. Try the ribs at Ketchup if you get chance - they are too good ! You need a car to get around in LA, and valet was always quick and courteous. Overall a great stay and would definately return.

We booked three nights at Le Montrose Suite hotel having read good reviews on this website. We were pleased with the comfort of the room and had two good nights stay. Unfortunately, things went wrong on the third morning when we were woken at 7.00 am by very loud noises from above which we eventually concluded was industrial type cleaning being carried out. Furniture was being moved and what sounded like carpets were being cleaned. I called reception and asked about the noise and they said they would look into it. The noises briefly stopped but after half an hour started again so I called reception again to ask if someone could please come to our room to hear the noises. I was put through to the duty manager who informed me that there was nothing going on above as the room was empty and basically implied that we were imagining it. He did offer to move us to another room but as we were by now wide awake and checking out that day his offer was politely declined. After checking out I spoke to the manager and told him again about the horrendous noises but again he refused to believe it. There was no offer of apology and his attitude was one of not caring at all. This was a great shame as the rest of the staff had been friendly and helpful. We will definitely not stay in this hotel again - purely because of the manager.

Another of the growing number of 'try hard trendy hotels' where low lighting and uncomfortable furniture are more important than customer service. The highlight for me was on day four of a six night stay when i was dropped off at the curb by a studio representative after an entire afternoon of negotiations for a future project. We were sitting in the car concluding the deal when an oversized member of the front of house team asked us to turn off the headlights. We complied, continued our conversation only to have the same gentleman shine a torch in our eyes and motion for us to move the car. If you want to be treated like you're staying in a nightclub then this is the place for you. If you're after comfortable, quiet accommodation with pleasant staff then i suggest you continue your search.

Based on the "#3 in Los Angeles!" reviews, I booked a 10-day work-related stay at Le Montrose. The website also does a great job in selling the place -- it looks groovy, modern, clean -- and all for a fairly reasonable price (considering location and season). Sad to say that, while the lobby is inviting and the staff quite lovely, the rest of the place was downright gross. I got the feeling that those pretty internet photos were taken about 5 years ago, and the management just hasn't had the time/energy/means to keep the place maintained. The elevators are very darkly lit -- probably to hide the fact that they are thrashed inside (peeling paint, words carved into the walls). Highlights of the room: stained couch, icky carpet, scratched/stained furniture... we requested a crib for our infant and they sent us an old metal thing with peeling paint and broken wheels -- looked like something out of a third world orphanage. Worst of all was the smell of the room which I can only describe as "pukey" (which kinda makes sense given the proximity to The Rainbow Room).
Now having said all this, I'm not saying Le Montrose was a fleabag (I have stayed in much worse), but given the high fallutin' sales pitch, the place leaves a lot to be desired.
ps: we checked out and immediately checked in to The Chamberlain about a half mile away, and we couldn't be happier.

I just returned from a 3-night stay at Le Montrose in West Hollywood and was very pleased with the hotel. The location is ideal, within walking distance of the Sunset strip and probably a 10 minute drive from Beverly Hills and 15 minutes to Hollywood. The staff was very friendly and helpful (always printing driving directions for us) and the room was clean & just perfect for the 4 of us (me & my girlfriends). As per other reviews, the elevator is a bit slow, but I have experienced that in many, many buildings in my life. Get over it people. The price we paid was about $850 for the three nights (including a $26 parking charge per night). I felt you just couldn't beat that for the convenience to all the areas of LA we were visiting. If I return to LA, I would definitely stay in the Le Montrose again!
