I've stayed here a few times, its a great place to stay if you are travelling on your own and are knackered after a long day, want a friendly welcome and something nice to eat. They are currently doing the rooms up and the ones they have completed are lovely. It feels safe and not intrusive and they remembered which wine i liked. Great.

I came across Ely House Hotel by chance and would not stay any where else. I regularly come to Wolverhampton on business trips and find the hotel full of charm and character. The service and food is first class. A refreshing change to big chain hotels! I would recommend this hotel to any body travelling either for business or pleasure to Wolverhampton.

Very Close to the City Centre and Dunstall Races. Staff were very friendly and the room was excellent. The hotel have restaurant and freshley cooked breakfast in the morning was great. It also has a lovely bar which we found useful after a long day at the races.

Through my work I stay at many hotels on a lowish budget. This was so much better than staying at a 'lodge': had a good feel, and the bedroom was clean, well equipped and extremely comfortable.
I had a warm welcome and attentive, friendly service. As a woman travelling alone, I felt safe.
My only disappointment was the food; the website and literature in the rooms describes the food as 'the best in Wiolverhampton' and using 'fresh local produce'. There was a choice of four starters and four main courses; for a starter I went for the ravioli, and guess what... it was tinned ravioli with tinned chopped tomatoes and melted cheddar oin top! So if that's the best food in Wolverhampton, I can't imagine what the others are doing!
I would stay here agin, but would probably go out to eat....

We stayed in an executive room and paid a premium for this. However, the room was not clean, the bathroom was very shabby (peeling paint, stains on walls, shower rail tied up with wire, dirty floor), the shower didn't work, the bedspread had stains and the heating only comes on for 2 hours in the evening so it was FREEZING.
The hotel was clearly renovated a few years back but it has not been well maintained and the photos on the website are misleading. In general it's very shabby now and although the staff are friendly, they are very under-staffed so the service is not great.
Breakfast was poor and certainly not worth the £6.50.
And, to finish our stay off, we were told that check out was 1/2 hour earlier than the time quoted on the website. I can't imagine that the hotel will retain its 3 stars when it is next assessed. You pay a substantial price for a substandard experience.
