My husband and I stayed at the St. Regis over the July 4th weekend as a little "stay-cation" (we live in the area). From the moment we pulled up to the building to check in to the time we drove away after checking out it was fantastic. The lobby is classy and inviting. Lemonade, tea and soft drinks are in the lobby early in the day, and wine and soft drinks in the afternoon. You can sit there and have a pleasant chat with a companion or with other hotel guests. We have never experienced a more pleasant and accomodating staff! Every request and need was quickly attended to with graciousness and smiles. You don't even get your own ice: make a call and a "butler" almost immediately brings it to you in a crystal ice bucket, even several times a day. There is 24-hour room service and a 24 hour concierge service. The room was great. While not huge it was a decent space, tastefully decorated and with a Tlarge, beautiful chandelier over the bed. While there was no tub, the shower was HUGE--probably large enough for 4 people--with both a hand-held shower and a stable over-head shower. The piece-de-resistance was the "magic mirror" that is actually a t.v. , with a remote control. There is a phone in the bathroom, and two in the bedroom, including one cordless. We had a wonderful stay, and have recommended the hotel to all of our friends!

Stayed at the St. Regis while in the DC area for a family event out in Montgomery County. Absolutely beautiful hotel with a great staff and very large rooms - We stayed on the seventh floor, the only floor with the big palladium windows in each room. Valet service was quick and friendly, and "private dining" was super- quick. I called for a pot of coffee Saturday morning, and it showed up less than four minutes later! And, upon returning to our room a little after midnight, I placed a breakfast order hang-tag on the door, for 7:20 the next morning - At EXACTLY 7:20, we got a knock on the door. We would certainly have liked a tub in the room, but, hey, it's an historic building (beautifully restored and maintained) so sometimes you have to make some small compromises. The bathroom overall was very spacious, as was the shower enclosures, and the toiletires provided were top-notch (and the in-mirror TV was fun!). The location can't really be beat - Two blocks from the rear of the White House, a block and a half to the red Metro line. All in all, we'd definitely return to the St. Regis the next time we're in DC!

Wow, what service!!! I stayed at the hotel with my family shortly after they re-opened. Of course, the hotel is gorgeous and the location is prime. But more importantly, I was incredibly impressed with the service we received. We have small children, and while there is not much to do in the hotel for kids, the staff really went out of their way to make the kids feel welcome. As a parent, that was much appreciated and definitely made my stay far more enjoyable.

We expected more from the St. Regis having stayed at these properties in Rome and Monarch Beach. The location is great for business or pleasure, just a few blocks from the White House. The rooms however are quite small. Our bathroom was cramped and did not even have a tub. The service was just ok. We booked a package and they could not locate it and still had trouble even after we showed them the reservation print-out. That being said, the hotel was just renovated and re-opened in January of '08 so everything is fresh. I much preferred the Sofitel a block away, better rooms and much better service.

We stayed at the St. Regis for one week in March, just one month after the hotel reopened from a one-year major renovation. We are very familiar with this intimate hotel from previous stays in 2005 and 2006. All the rooms were gutted, and they have new furniture, deluxe beds and Italian bed linens (must be 1000-thread count), completely new bathrooms with natural stone in light greys and tans, rain-head showers, plasma TVs, and I could go on and on. Apparently top designers were involved in the redecoration and it shows. Best of all, 95% of the staff has returned to the St. Regis, and the ones I spoke had worked anywhere from 15 to 19 years for the hotel. They said they were treated so well that they would never leave. And I think this is the reason the service is so good and the staff is so welcoming. We just love this hotel! Only one glitch from the renovation. One 79-year old member of our group was assigned to a room with a combination bath/shower (our room just had a huge walk-in shower, and apparently there are rooms with separate showers and baths). Unfortunately, the bath was so deep that stepping into it was very unsafe because there were no grab bars to use. Even middle-aged folks might have difficulty. The hotel has been made aware of this problem and I can't help but think they will address it. Interior designers don't always get it right! The bar hadn't reopened yet (will be in April) but the food we had there was delicious. If you want to feel like a queen or king, this is the place!
