WStaso has stayed here and says:
"My brother and I stayed one night at the Novotel in Bern, across the street from the Expo. A tram stop right outside across the street made it easy to get into town. The hotel is a little distance from the train station, but we had no trouble getting around. The room, for a European hotel, was huge..."

Although this hotel is not in the center of Bern, it is across the street from a tram line that runs every 5-7 minutes and takes you downtown in no time at all. The hotel is new and everything is modern and attractive. Our room had a separate bathtub and shower. The buffet breakfast was fanstastic, all kinds of meats, cheeses, yougurts, eggs, waffles, bacon, etc. We stayed for 5 nights and were very pleased. The room was spacious and included a sofa bed too. The early break price was a good deal, otherwise it can be pricey. I recommend getting a transportation pass for the time you are in Bern. You can go just about anywhere on the trams and buses. The pass even covers the funicula up to Gurten. From there you can see all of Bern and the mountains nearby, an awesome view. There are two restaurants up there, one formal and the other cafeteria style. It is well worth the tram and funicula ride.

The room was very clean and modern. The food in the restaurant is of a high quality. The hotel appears to be away from the action, but the tram right out the front is a quick trip (10 minutes) into the old town. Had a great time and would highly recommend it to family and friends.

Novotel Bern Expo is located opposite of BEA (Fair gorunds) and quite some distance from the center of Bern. Our choice was primary based on the excellent rate we were quoted from the hotel through its website,168CHF/per night for a family of 4 breakfast included, and its proximity to the Jungfrau region, some 75km of motorway driving. The hotel is adjoined by the sister hotels, Ibiss and Etap of the Accor group that surely will quote you an even better rate. Parking your car comes at 12CHF and the indoor parking is shared between the 3 hotels. Our check in was quick and efficient and we were placed on the 4th floor of the multiple store building. Our room its was generally clean but small. The bathroom had a separate shower cabin from the bathtub but it was tiny too, amenities were complete. Minibar was ok but pricy a bootle of Evian 500cl was offered at 60CHF. Bed and pillows were quite comfortable providing a good night's sleep.Breakfast buffet next morning had a large selection of tasteful items and it was all fine.On the plus side it was the a small playground close to the lobby with a playstation stand and various other toys to keep kids busy. Internet point with 2 laptops and a printer is available but at price of 4.5CHF for 1/2 hour. Staff were friendly and helpful.Concluding the hotel can deliver for short stays, in relation always with tempting rates.

We stayed one night in family room on the way from geneva to the Bernese Oberland. standard Novotel rooms, always pretty reliable. Easy to get to with tram no 9, or it would have been if central part of bern wasn't dug up at the time! Good to have the kettle and teabags etc (unusual in continental hotels). Restaurant was surprisingly good and not too expensive, considering comparable ones elswhere! Worth checking out the special book in advance rates on the Novotel website
