"What a fabulous place to stay. We decided to get away from our teenagers and have a weekend for just us. I rang and booked and was given a really good deal. On arrival we were given star treatment. Everyone we dealt with were so friendly. The room was nicely warmed up for us and in perfect presentation..."

Novotel, Hamilton - Below Average.

The location of the hotel is great but the rooms are terrible. All windows were dirty - had to close the blinds. The hotel is run down. It has been refurbished but its not good enough. Although I requested a non smoking room, the room did not have a clean smell. The restaraunt was good and the food was nice. Service was great. However, I would give the hotel 2 out of 5. Don't go there, try to find something better if possible.

Stayed at the Novotel for one night as a part of a short driving trip around the North Island. The best thing about the Novotel is its location which really cant be beat in Hamilton. It has a river at its back and only a few steps to the main road, so no complaint there. The hotel room was a typically large Novotel room but beyond that was very non descript, in need of a refresh and not a whole lot going for it. We also ate at the restaurant which was very modern and well located overlooking the river. The food was also of a good quality, but I couldnt help but feel a little ripped off with the serving sizes and a menu that really misrepresented what was being served. Next time I will try the very many cafes and restaurants that are only a short walk from the hotel. So from our point of view the stay was pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary. But given the location and the fact that there is really nothing all that wrong with the hotel, its not a bad choice. Just dont eat in the restaurant.

We had a room at the back of the hotel, partially facing the river so it was quiet and had a decent view. The room was 'a typical, average hotel room' but clean and functional. The housekeeping was a bit hit-and-miss, particularly when it came to replenishing the coffee/tea tray, but a phone call to housekeeping usually fixed it very rapidly. The thing I liked most was the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The reception desk, valet parking and concierge were all very helpful, particularly with suggestions of possible tourist activities. The location is great - right in the centre of things. We didn't eat in the hotel but opted to go out for breakfast and dinner as there are so many good yet relatively inexpensive places close by.

We stayed here for the night before flying to Samoa. We paid $111 hot deal from their website and got a fairly basic room that looked out over the main street. This hotel doesn't have balconies or any windows that open unfortunately. There is a small gym area with all of three pieces, and a spa pool. The deck outside the gym has a chessboard painted on top, with giant chess pieces which was great to play. The hotel is centrally located to everything in the city, and predominately houses those who play at the casino which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The carparking service costs $10 a day, and has an elevator going right down to the carparking area which was great. Nice hotel for what it is, and if need be, would stay here again.

I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
