We stayed here on a Saturday and Sunday night. The room was clean and modern. I would recommend this hotel if travelling with children, as up to 2 children stay and eat breakfast for free. Children sleep on a sofa bed.
Breakfast was okay, but very busy at 9am on a weekend. I didn’t eat in the restaurant, but my 3 year old son had a three course childrens meal which was the best childrens meal I had seen and only cost ?5.

We stayed at this hotel on a parking package - ?105 for one night’s bed & breakfast with one week’s parking. Although our flight was not particularly early we did not want the stress of a 2-hour drive with a flight to catch.
The hotel is modern looking from the outside and the reception area does nothing to dispel this myth. However, I have never seen a modern hotel with painted woodchip on the walls - our room certainly needed updating!
The room was very large – with a sofa bed as well as a double bed, but arranged is such a way that one side of the bed was almost against the wall and involved a climb to get out. The bed did not have a proper sprung mattress, but a very thick foam pad, which proved uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom (with a separate toilet) was relatively clean but the sink was cracked and there was some mould on the tiles by the bath. There was only one bath towel for the two of us.
As we did not arrive until midnight, and as we were only staying one night, we did not complain. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice of both hot and cold dishes - and went some way towards making up for the poor quality of the room and bed.
We had been advised that the hotel was only 5 minutes drive from the airport and booked the transfer time accordingly - unfortunately, the taxi was 20 minutes late. The manager was most apologetic and assured us three times in 15 minutes that the taxi would be here within five minutes – eventually he was right. Naturally, when the taxi finally arrived we were stuck in traffic so that the 5 minute drive took 15 minutes. We arrived at the airport 40 minutes later than expected and only 10 minutes before the check-in closed. As the main reason we had booked an overnight stay was to avoid this sort of stress we were a little put out, to say the least.
If we need an overnight stay again we would certainly not consider the Novotel, now matter how good the breakfast.

This hotel - just off the A1, is the hotel I stay in when I'm working in Newcastle, so I've been here a few times.
It's a bit in the middle of nowhere, but fine (probably quite convenient) if you have a car. A couple of miles from the airport too.
It's a business-type hotel, so you know pretty much what to expect. It is done out in a modern design style though (although not at great expense it doesn't look like). Rooms are decent though, and quiet. Showers are good. There can be some road noise from the A1 depending on the room you get, but it doesn't bother me.
Breakfast is very good - loads of choice and good quality. There are also solo seats with Tvs in the restaurant . .a lot of solo travellers.
Biggest gripe is that (for some reason) they still seem completely unprepared for everyone to be checking out at 8-8.30am. There's no express check-out, and often there's only one person serving at reception. Very annoying.
So a decent, if reasonably unremarkable, place to stay.

I spent two nights here whilst visiting friends nearby. The hotel is near the airport, and not too far from Newcastle city centre.
I checked in around 9pm, and the person working at reception was friendly and helpful, but it was her first night on shift by herself, so she had some problems in managing to link my two nights stay, so I needed to check out the next morning, and back in again, which took about two minutes to achieve.
The room was comfortable, and well equipped. My only issue was that the shower was an odd shape, and I found it quite difficult to get in to the cubicle because the door opened inwards. That said, I did manage to negotiate this!
I had breakfast in the hotel, there was a good selection of food, and the service was good.
Overall the service was good and the hotel was certainly good value.
