There's no reason not to stay here as long as you have a car. Large, functional and comfortable rooms, some of which might require a paint job but nothing more serious. The rooms would also work very well for families. There's also the efficiency and reliability you tend to expect from a Novotel. Its a 5-minute drive from the centre of Chambery near an out-of-town retail complex so wont work if you're dependent on public transport. The location also makes it worth seeking out a deal that includes breakfast which, while not extensive, was decent quality and amazingly efficient. I might have rated it a 4 were it not for its attraction to coach parties - and being on the same floor as a large party of excitable 18 year olds isn't that great after midnight!

Great stopping off point - staff friendly, welcoming and attentive. Good value; comfortable beds with decent linen. Even the restaurant was above average and the place was an excellent choice for a nightstop with a family en route to southern Europe. Would recommend for families in particular as they make an effort to accommodate children. The novotel concept works and their hotels, though functional and basic, are well managed and efficient, and, in my experience, good value for money.
