My husband and I took our toddler for a weekend away in Indy from Chicago. Clarion was the perfect location for us to meet up with old friends, visit Butler University, and go to the Children's Museum. We arrived after 11:00 pm on a Friday and were given excellent service and a room right around the corner from the front desk. We loved the king bed suite which had a mini-fridge and microwave for toddler snacks. Our toddler loved the indoor pool (great that is open from 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM). Breakfast was typical, but staff was waiting around to refill any thing and help throw away our trash. We even asked the front desk for directions to the Museum and he immediately printed out exact directions for us. We will defintely stay there again!

We were in town on training and had decided to make it a weekend out of it with the kids. Hotel is in excellent location that is just one block off the highway in a business park. The area is very busy during the business week, but very quiet on the weekends, however, the hotel was quiet on Thursday evening and the hotel was full. My kids spent time from when the pool opened till when it closed splashing as much water as they could out of the pool. I felt a little sorry for the manager who kept having to come in and test the chemicals and fill some more water every day, but he told me he has a pool at his house and he likes making the pool sparkle, which it did, especially when the sun comes in during the afternoon in the huge bay windows. The rest of the hotel had just as much attention to detail (although I only seem to remember swimming and sleeping.) I do remember that breakfast was above average and had some tasty egg patties and sausage. Kids loved the donuts, eggo waffles and frosted flakes. Had yogurt one day but ran out probably because of my kids. Husband enjoyed the internet in the lobby computer while I did my stuff on the internet the room. The room we had was plenty big. Two beds, sofa, dresser with six drawers (important for all the clothes and taking them OUT of the suitcase) armoir, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, those new curved shower rods and the neatest shower curtains with no hooks but a reinforced rubber ring built into the curtain. (That is actually why I'm online so late to try to find some for the kids room that they won't rip.) BTW: the beds are pillow tops that came really close (I just can't say it was better for pride's sake) to the $3000 mattress I have at home (not including box spring!) Manager, who took my reservation, was very friendly and took time to exchange stories of travel with me. He seemed very sold on the Choice Hotels and I will start to look into them especially now that I notice that they're everywhere, literally. I mean, just about every exit. I did join their frequent traveler club and I'm going to try out a couple of hotels on a road trip this June... Mount Rushmore here we come! Also, front desk attendant was very sharp and funny. He wanted to make sure that we only experienced the best of Indy and he delivered. Made sure to make my bill reflect a separate Thursday stay from the weekend so I could turn in expenses wthout any eyebrows. We are sure to be back soon! Travel tip: Check out the Children's Museum - very close to this location. Kids are already asking when we're going back!

The Good - Nice location just off the interstate and near a large state park. The intersection is undergoing major construction but we didn't have any trouble given we were there on a weekend. The room is large with a very comfortable king-size bed. I believe they only have king size beds at this smallish hotel. Continental breakfast was provided and there were a few warm items (egg & sausage patties) along with the typical cereal and bagels---(they did run out of pastries however). The bad - our kids really wanted to swim but the "heated" pool was too cold for all but the most determined children. I don't think the water was heated. I suspect that the clerks heat the pool room to 85 degrees and then simply assume that the water would also reach that temperature. Of course, it doesn't work that way and the result was a cold pool. Because of the cold pool and the inability/unwillingness of the desk people to make any changes to the pool temperature we would not choose this hotel again. If you don't want to use the pool then this hotel is great.

Stayed here for a friend's wedding in April. Hotel is relatively small and quiet, which I really enjoyed. THe front desk was attentive and accomadating. They have a free continental breakfast with all the usual fare (pastries, juice, fruit, etc.) Also, the beds were INCREDIBLY comfortable. Overall, I really enjoyed the intimate feel of the hotel!
