We stay here when visiting family & friends in UK as it is conveniently located (we live in Spain).
The hotel rooms are quite large and have king size beds. Clean & adequate. Ask for rooms overlooking the car park side which is quieter than the shopping mall side.
Staff have always proved friendly and reliable.
You can get half price and very good English breakfasts by going across the road to the Tesco megastore or British Home Store in the large shopping mall.
Good rail connections betwen here and London/Cambridge, and a large entertainment and restaurant centre a few minutes walk away.
Stevenage is not on the tourist map and never will be - but a good basic hotel for overnight stay if passing through or on business locally.
You get what you pay for - and we will return - only due to personal circumstances.

I stayed here as part of a Luton airport hotel and parking deal. it was the cheapest on offer, but it's worth spending the minimal amount more to go elsewhere. This isn't really anything to do with the hotel, but more the location. Srevenage just isn't where it's at!
My room was a good size, and the bathroom was fine. Although my room smelt rather musty, it was clean enough. The view over Tesco's roof was uninspiring, and the noise from Tescos ventilation system went on and off all night which meant that windows open was not a possibility. The bed was VERY hard, and the TV wasn't really tuned in. Staying on a Friday, the restaurant wasn't open: when asked, the receptionist (who was really not very welcoming) sent me across a roadbridge to the local leisure park where there is a selection of chain oulets: I ate in the Ask! which was okay if not great cuisine.
The drive next day to Luton took about 20 minutes, and the total package was reasonable (£79 for the room plus 15 nights parking). It's not great, but it's not as dire as some of the reviews say.

Too many service failures and very disingenuous apologies from receptionist.
Misled on car parking facilities when checked by phone before booking.
Broadband connection utterly useless - wasted 2 hours and about £15 on trying to get connection using their service provider (Orange).
Totally ignored in restaurant for about 15 minutes, so we left and went elsewhere.
No customer complaints facility on Ibis website - hence this review.
Postcard left on pillow in room inviting nominations for 'excellent service'.
Generally I have found Ibis hotels in mainland Europe to be reliable,
if a little on the expensive side now. My experience at Stevenage was
well below standard and with little opportunity to seek redress from Ibis, it has damaged their brand in my eyes.

No surprises, very basic but fully equipped rooms, lifts to all floors, despite being close to town centre, rooms above 2nd floor not too bad for noise - pigeons can be a problem early morning.
Breakfast poor value better option local cafe/supermarket (24 hrs).
Car parking convenient in multi storey adjacent to hotel (small fee) can park next to hotel for unloading.
Ideal for local train station & good service to London or Cambridge.
Hot meals available 24 hrs in hotel - fair price.
Have always found reception staff helpful although dont expect any extras.
Does what it says on the tin for the price.
