This hotel is near the hauptbahnhof station. We stayed on the second floor on our 1st night and on the 4th floor on our second night. We had to open the windows of our room for it would be too warm if we didn’t (the air conditioner wasn’t working). Unfortunately, this let in a lot of noise also, making it difficult for us to get some sleep. The area is a busy one since it’s near the train station. You can hear the comings and goings of the buses and trams until the wee hours of the morning. Add to this, the noise that the rowdy and boisterous people on the streets make. We didn’t dare either to come home after dark for there were a lot of seedy characters around the area. But, all of these I can live with, for I can take a great amount of discomfort.
An incident with an employee in this hotel however, left a very bad impression of IBIS on me. On our first night we were unfortunately accommodated on a smoking floor. I went to the front desk the following morning to request for a change of room to a non-smoking one. I was able to talk to a certain Lissa or Liza Kelpler or Kepler. I told her about my problem with the room and requested for assistance to ensure that my children need not be further exposed for another night to cigarette smoke. She told us to come back at 11 am and maybe she would have a room for us. I told her that since we’ll be there only for a short time and would like to see Innsbruck as much as we can I might not be able to come back on the said hour. I implored her to please reserve a non-smoking room for us instead. She then told me to come back at 2 pm then. I then told her again of the difficulty of coming back at said hour for the same reason mentioned above. Apparently this irritated this Lissa or Liza. She threw a tantrum and said she was not the one who created our problem and then turned her back at us. She insisted that since she did not cause our problem so she must not be the one to be burdened in solving it. Her supervisor saw the incident and approached us. I repeated our request and predicament. He then offered to me the luggage room to put our things so he can assure a non-smoking room for us anytime we come back from our sightseeing. This arrangement was acceptable to us for it will ease our burden of going back and forth the hotel and waste precious time.
My take on the matter too is that while we slept on a room that exposed my children to cigarette smoke the night before, it already happened and that it is in the past. My only concern at that time is not to expose them for another night. And that is all that I was asking for.
I think it is rather obvious that as clients, and foreign tourists at that; time should not be spent going back and forth hotels to make arrangements that could be done with the least burden on customers! The behavior of the said woman is uncalled for. I wonder what customer service policies that employee of theirs has been oriented with.

After a long train ride out of Croatia, my husband and I arrived in Innsbruck quite late in the evening (around 11:30pm). We were a bit concerned, as we did not know if our hotel would be difficult to find late at night.
Lo and behold, it was as though a miracle had happened...we walked out of the train station and looked to our left, and saw the Ibis right next to us, its sign glowing like a beacon in the night! We were so relieved, and of course, then it all made sense that the hotel was called the Ibis Hauptbahnof!
Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom had an excellent shower and the room itself had lots of surfaces to accommodate all of our random travel gear.
Although the hotel was located next to the train station, we did not find noise from passing trains to be an issue at all. The main tourist centre and pedestrian area was less than a 15-minute walk from the hotel. There is a supermarket across the street, which was handy.
The staff was friendly. We also enjoyed the complementary internet in the lobby, which we used to plan the upcoming leg of our trip.
We would absolutely stay again!

I had to stay overnight in Innsbruck as my husband was in the hospital there. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Ibis. I paid 63 euros for a single room, without breakfast. The room was huge, I had a double bed and there was an extra duvet and pillows there for my comfort. Great shower and so much room for one person. I was very impressed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed at the Ibis and we thought it was very adequate and comfortable for the price. We stayed here for 3 nights in January.
The Ibis is a decent home base from which to go skiing as the buses to take you up the mountain stop right in front of the hotel, the hotel being next to the train station.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious.
The hotel was great, the only problem was the "free Internet" which was so proudly advertised as a benefit to this hotel, and it was kind of a scam. The hotel had ONE computer and it was almost always occupied. I got to use it for a few minutes twice in two days and this weird lady kept hovering around and even came up and was staring at what I was doing on the computer on two different occasions!
If I went back to Innsbruck I'd be tempted to stay at the Ibis, but the train terminal area was VERY sketchy. There were very rough looking people inside and outside of the terminal especially beginning in the early evening. Also the one restaurant/pub was just awful. At around 9 o’clock I ordered a bowl of soup and the waitress actually sighed and rolled her eyes and was all snooty when I didn't order anything else. This was not unusual customer service at the train station, or even up at the ski resort. We didn't have a very positive experience with the warmth or the friendliness of the locals here (my husband and I were very surprised by this being our first experience in Austria).

My husband and I stayed at the Ibis just for one night, and were so pleased that we didn't even have to leave the rail station to enter the hotel! Beds were very comfortable, and the shower was fabulous. Breakfast was quite good (no big layout of hot food, but there were boiled eggs and ten kinds of cold food), but you may want to save your money on the breakfast and just go into town, the downtown of which is so close to the hotel that it's worth the little walk to get a full breakfast with better coffee (hotel just had a self-serve Nescafe machine). This was the only hotel from which I departed from my trusty Frommer's in booking, and glad I did! A bargain.
