This hotel is awesome. The kids had a great time at the pool. Service was excellent. At check in Sophia was sooo great. Mrs. Melodee was very helpful with the breakfast. Thank you April for your help. It was close to the beaches and restaurants. Not to costly. Perfect for any budget.

Finding a nice hotel in smaller non-touristy areas of Florida can be a challenge. Finding a nice hotel with views, atmosphere and service can be even harder. The Tides Hotel hit the marks on all areas.
Melbourne, FL, is not a touristy area, but we were visiting family and I wanted a nice hotel. This hotel is located right on Route 1, across the street from the Indian River. If you upgrade and get the water view, you will appreciate it. The other side of the hotel faces a parking lot and a couple of car dealerships. The water view is very nice and the sunrise in the morning is beautiful.
The hotel was fully remodeled from an existing hotel that was destroyed a couple of years ago from a strong hurricane season. It opened in January so as a result, it was in great shape. The lobby is spacious and nicely decorated. The staff was very pleasant during our entire stay.
The room was nicely appointed with two queen beds, a desk and wide screen television. The two lamps in the room did not shed a lot of light, but they were sufficient for our needs. We did have some small maintenance issues in the room but they were quickly remedied.
The hotel advertised that they offered a complimentary breakfast in the morning. When we went down to eat, the offerings were slim. We were told that they had offered a larger menu selection but were not serving the food per "code" and they were redoing the way they were serving their breakfast in the morning. On the morning of day two, there was a larger variety of food to select from and the attendant went a got bagels, which weren't out, but were available. Once they get their system structured they want they want it, the bagels will be part of the food out for selection.
The hotel also offers a complimentary cocktail reception in the evening for hotel guests. We got in late each night and could not partake, but the Desk Clerks were quick to offer a glass of wine or beer anyway, which we happily accepted.
The rate of $93.00 per night, after a discount for booking directly with the hotel, was fair. The room was comfortable, service excellent and the breakfast decent. When I return to the Melbourne area, I would consider the Tides Waterfront as a place to stay again.

My husband and I just arrived home from a 2 night stay at this hotel. I was a little skeptical because of the mixed reviews but was overall happy with our trip. We reserved a city view room when we made our reservation. When we checked in I asked for a king size bed and they accommodated our request even though it meant upgrading us to a "water view" room. The water is a river, but hey, it's water. Everyone raved about how goods the beds were but I wasn't that impressed. Our bed at home is like falling into a marshmallow so that is hard to beat. They were ok but nothing spectacular. The room was a regular size room with standard amenities. The ipod docking station was nice although the sound quality wasn't that great. The staff was helpful and friendly. We noticed some ants on our last night there but nothing to make us have to switch rooms. We notified the front desk at check-out (which was at noon by the way) and they were profusely apologetic.
We didn't try the pool but it looked nice. This is in an industrial area and about a 30 minute drive to Cocoa Beach or about 10 minutes to Melbourne Beach. The hotel is close to Historic Downtown Melbourne which has some cute shops and restaurants.
My biggest complaint is how loud the A/C was!! It's a standard hotel A/C unit and is controlled by a thermostat on the wall. Every time it came on we had to turn the TV up! It didn't bother me while I was sleeping but my husband said it woke him up a few times.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying there again. Not a bad place for the $$.

First off the only good thing i have to say about our stay at Tides Waterfront Hotel was the reception staff was amazing. I'd like to say Thank You for all your help.
However here's a ALOT of things that my boyfriend and i came into contact with while stay there. My boyfriend and i showed up a day earler then what we had aked. So the front desk gave us a up grade to another room due to our room not being ready. This is what we got!!! LOL
1. Upon arriving to the room we noticed that the "Plasma Screen Television" was not there and we were told its due to the hotel being soo new they haven't gotten everything done in all the rooms. If a hotel opens in January and doesn't have all the amenities that they say they do....they shouldn't be offering them!!!
2. The was NO Speakman deluxe showers in our room and to make due for that...we were able to use a Ipod docking station that plugged into the wall at NO charge.
3. The safe for laptops!!! My laptop didn't fit inside it. We had to take our laptop every where with us, everywhere.
4. Oh ya the wireless internet NEVER worked the whole time we were there. I had called the toll free number for the tech support and that was useless. I'm very good with computer and even i couldn't figure it out. So i called the front desk and they didn't know what to do, they just told me to call the tech support. So i did some investigating on my own, I went to the main computer that's in the lobby and checked there wireless settings and connections what i found was that the wireless connection was not ON....they only had internet to the main computers on the main floor NO wireless activity. So my boyfriend and i had to go to the WENDY'S restaurant cross the bridge and use there wireless connection...talk about pain in the butt. We had NO problems once so ever connecting to the restaurants internet.
5. My boyfriend from day one was leaving his change on the table and letting it pile up so we could pay for the tolls on our journey back to Toronto Ontario....He thought is would be a nice gesture and to tip the cleaning lady that had came into our room that day, he gave her the tip by hand...I warned him not to do that...and i was right. The next day after coming back from Sea world my boyfriend asked me if i had taken the change off the table. I said no. Well the cleaning lady had take about 15 dollars in change off the night stand.
6. The breakfast area and lobby was swarming with fruit fly's...There was no fruit any where to be found!!!!
7. Yes the hotel faces the waterfront that you cannot swim in. You have to drive about 15 mins to the ocean to swim or jus go in the back to the pool that faces two car dealerships. The rest of the location seems like your in a industrial area. There was nothing to do in the area, you had to drive across the bridge to the other side to find something to do. DO NOT GO OUT AT NIGHT WITHOUT SOMEONE. There was ALOT of homeless people in the area. It was boring area if you ask me and i was three months pregnant.
8. The weirdest thing i came across while there was the casing of a bullet in the windowsill, which was my final straw.
We left a day early after dealing with all these issuses which they did not charge us for....We told them about all our issues and all they could say was Sorry. Enough said DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THIS PLACE....WE WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK TO THIS HOTEL AGAIN.
Thank You...

I travel to Melbourne on business for the last 3 years. Most hotels are tired or if they are new are really expensive. This new place Tides Hotel was really great. Staff was friendly, FREE drinks - yes free like Embassy Suites does nightly.. I loved it as it saved me $30 per day in bar bills.... How awesome was that! Rooms are not huge but they are real nice and done well. The Beds will have you sleeping like a baby! Breakfast was also free and typical of what you would get elsewhere. The fitness room is probably the best in any hotel I have stayed in for Melbourne. The pool was heated and huge. Cant go wrong with this place
