This hotel is amazing! We were told it just reopened in January of 07 after a major renovation. The room (studio) had a very nice size and made as feel very comforable and at home. The design is great. Very modern and cool, but not cold at all. Cleanliness was impressive (and they do not use any chemicals!!!)Take the time and walk through the other hotel floors. Every single one is in a different colour, dedicated to an art institution. Location is perfect too. Across the bridge in Urfahr, but only a 3 minute walk to mainsquare and the center of town. They have their own parking garage, so no worries about finding parking. Service was awsome and we will definitely be back soon.

Grazioso, di design, una camera molto tecnologica con bagno a vista, tutto di ottima qualità, dalla teiera in camera al classico set carta-matite-accappatoio-ombrello. La colazione non m è parsa eccellente, comunque di livello decoroso. sta in centro, basta attraversare il fiume per essere nella piazza principale e al lentos museum (con cui collaborano)

The hotel has recently been completely revamped. It is now a minimalist design hotel. My room was not huge but it was very well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was good too. It is pricey compared to some places but its an oasis of calm in Linz which I confess wasnt my favourite city. The hotel is easily 1 1/2 miles from the station, so not ideal for an overnight stay unless you also want to take in the fantastic modern art museum on the riverside, which it is within 5 minutes walk from. I wont be going back to Linz in a hurry but if I was i would stay again.

The Spitz hotel is under new management (no longer a Best Western) and has been completely refurbished. It opened in November 2006 as a 'design hotel' - very modern and a bit funky. I have been going to Linz weekly on business and this is now my first choice hotel. Rooms are compact (although vary in size) but very nice (wooden floors, very comfortable beds, desks). Some rooms have a glass wall between the shower and the bedroom, so you can see the shower from the room. However, there are also rooms that have a normal separate bathroom. The shower itself is one of best showers I have used - great water pressure and both a handheld and regular showerhead. Luxury soap and shampoo from The White Company. Decent breakfast - and free wireless internet access throughout the hotel (huge perk for me). Service is excellent and they have great free Spitz chocolates (Spitz is apparently a Linz company that makes chocolate wafers - I don't quite get the connection, but love the free chocolates!)

This hotel is in need of a renovation. The lobby was dated and the room was worn and very dated--dark colors and late 60s or early 70s style. Given the prices here, I would have expected a nicer room. That said, nothing was terribly wrong and the staff was nice enough. In general, I wasn't impressed and would look for somewhere else to stay if I went back to Linz.
