A Pleasant Surprise

The Vital was booked for us by our excellent tourguide, Haim Baida. Turned out to be a complete surprise, being both better and different than anticipated. We had a larger, more comfortable, more modern room than we expected for the money, in a very convenient location. But it's not a traditional hotel -- it occupies 3 floors in a mixed-use office building, next to a hospital and over a small mall. The lobby is a small-ish space between the building lobby and includes a mall entrance. Staff was extremely cooperative, knowledgeable and fluent in English. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and always fresh, though not as extensive as in the larger hotels. Business center, free, with 2 computers that work fast and coffee, tea fruit around the clock, was one of the best we encountered in Israel. Cabs were always available. Not having a useless doorman was hardly a drawback!

Modern and clean rooms. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. The breakfast was not huge but had a good assortment (tuna and egg salad, Israeli salad, cheeses, yogurt, fruit - fresh and dried - scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, pastry and cold cereal). Coffee was typically strong - you won't get American coffee in the country unless you order Cafe Americano at a coffee bar! We were checking out before breakfast hours and the wait staff was very willing to let us take some boiled eggs and yogurt for the next morning. Small refrigerator and safe in the room. Staff was EXTREMELY helpful. The front desk help spoke superb English and was willing to help with anything. We had a small cooler we took on our outings each day. There are no public ice machines in the hotel, but the front desk sent us to the kitchen where they filled up our cooler. They booked a tour for us one day, and they got us a power converter and extension cord for the room. The business center is nice with snacks, wine, coffee, tea, juice available all day and two computers. Wifi was also available. The location is great. You are a block off of Dizengoff Street (premier shopping area) and the hotel is above a small mall with McDonalds, pharmacy, grocery, coffee bar, toy store, and food court. True, it is not well insulated for sound, but seemed quiet in the evening. We were very pleased with the Vital.

I have to admit the vital hotel was a big surprise for me. I had to stay in the center of Tel - Aviv, and the hotel I usually stay in was fully booked. This small boutique hotel is situated in the best area of Tel-Aviv, has beautiful, spacious and most importantly very comfortable rooms; and I did not have to rent a car because everything I needed was a walking distance from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel, it's worth every penny

We were originally booked in at the cinema but the travel company cancelled at the last minute. We booked this hotel in a rush and wished we hadn't. It is more for the business travel not a tourist. The hotel has no character and the breakfast was awful for an Israeli breakfast. Thank god we only stayed two nights. It was miles from the beach but the walk did us good. The staff were NOT the most helpful we came across on our 14 day tour. We stayed at a youth hostel in Ein Gedi which was 100% better in every aspect than The Vital. A business hotel only!!!!!

I was on my way back from Haifa and needed to stay overnight in Tel Aviv before catching my flight home the next afternoon. I intended to take the train to Ben Gurion from the central station the next morning. I found that the Vital Hotel was within easy walking distance of the train station, and was actually just above the Weizmann Centre, which sounded interesting and convenient. Positives: + Easy walk to Tel Aviv Merkaz station, probably 10-15 minutes even with luggage. You can take a cab from the station if you want, but you'll possibly get ripped off on the fare. + The rooms are quite comfortable: the bed was good, the decoration was neat and tidy, and the bathroom all worked and was tidy. + The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. + The hotel is directly over the Weizmann shopping centre; from my room I could look down into the shopping area. There's a small supermarket here, a Toys R Us, and a number of other shops and coffee bars. + I had a "Club Room", which seemed to be larger than the standard room, and came with a plate of fresh fruit and a bottle of mineral water. The room also had a fridge, which was useful. + Price was very reasonable for Tel Aviv. Negatives: - The rooms all seem to have suspended ceilings to hide the ventilation and wiring. However, noise seems to carry through these easily. So you could hear the TV/radio of the room next door quite easily. - Don't go to this hotel if you want a view. I had a spectacular view of several apartment blocks and an office block. Still, who cares? If I want a view I'll stay on the beach. - Breakfast was fine but nowhere near as extensive as some of the other Israeli hotels I've stayed at. - The workspace (table/desk, power sockets) was inconveniently laid out and was rather difficult to work at. All in all, the Vital Hotel was fine for what I wanted, but I wouldn't stay for more than one night on business reasons. In the future I'd stay out on the beach somewhere (the beach, incidentally, can be walked to from the Vital Hotel in about half an hour if you're in the mood for exercise, which I was!)
