"Stayed here with my partner and 18 month old son recently. The hotel is wonderful - spotlessly clean, delicious food and in a marvellous location. Our room was spacious, spotless and had a fantastic view of the harbour. The staff were so plesant and really polite. Everyone from the waiting staff..."

My husband and I stayed at the Talbot for 3 nights. On arrival it was clear a wedding reception was about to take place as all the guests were in the hotel reception having pre-dinner drinks making checking into the hotel a bit difficult. The bar and the reception of the hotel were lovely, the food in the bar was great as was the breakfast each day, the bedrooms, however, left a lot to be desired. We booked an Executive room but it was pretty poor, we've stayed in a lot of hotels and this was not a 4 star room by any stretch of the imagination. We stayed in Wexford as we thought it would be a good base for travelling round - which it was. Wexford itself was a let down - I was surprised by the people who said there were an abundance of bars/restaurants in Wexford as we were unable to find anything decent, perhaps our standard is too high. We ate at one restaurant - Robertinos which was fine, not amazing but ok and judging by the number of other people from our hotel who were in there the same night as us - they had also struggled to find anything else. We thought Wexford was a little on the scruffy side with a very sparse choice of quality eating/drinking places. Waterford was pretty similar, Kilkenny was brilliant and we'd definitely go there again but to stay rather than just visit for a day. We like bars/restaurants where you can eat/drink outside if the weather is fine, we also like a good choice of food and will eat pretty much anything but other than 2 Italian restaurants in Wexford we couldn't find anything else that looked half decent. Final point - we ate at Fordes one night and it was great - book it if you can, not cheap but we had a lovely evening, service & food excellent.

My wife & I stayed in Talbot on a 2 night b/b +1 dinner mid week package for a total of ?270 booked thru hotel by phone. After checkin I had a look around hotel and found everywhere to be very modern and clean. We eat in hotel restaurant on first nite and food and service was very good. We went for drinks in hotel bar after our meal where there was a local man playing music, he was very good playing banjo and everyone sang along. The hotel bar is one of the nicest bars I have seen anywhere. Breakfast was good each morning and the bar food was also very good. Its a 5 minute walk to the main street where there is a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is easy to find and parking is not a problem as hotel has 2 car parks, 1 at the side of hotel and 1 across the road . Overall we enjoyed our stay and will return again.

Have just returned from 2 nights at the Talbot Hotel in Wexford. We arrived to a warm welcome from reception staff. Our room was spotlessly clean. We had one evening meal as part of our package which we had the first night. Food and service were both excellent. Had bar food on the second night, again it was excellent. The leisure centre is also well kept, clean and staff are friendly. Perfectly located for a stroll around town. Highly recommend it and would definitely go back.

Used this business hotel for a one night stay while on vacation. Nice large rooms overlooking the harbor. Good breakfast. Only a couple of blocks to center of town. Excellent price on the internet.

My friends and I stayed at the Talbot hotel in March 2008 and were more than impressed with the total experience. The hotel is very central, just minutes walk away from the shops, bars etc. we thought the rooms were lovely, good sized and airy. You could also control the heat and could open the windows in the rooms which is so important when so many hotels are overheated. Breakfast was included in the price (E110 for twin room on Thurs night and E190 on Fri night) and was of a good quality. We had bar food on the Fri afternoon, steaks, paninis, salads etc .We found this to be good vaue and very tasty too. The outstanding thing about the talbot though is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. It's clearly top of their list,on one occasion a chambermaid even offered to help me with my bags as I was leaving my room. Overall, I was more than impressed with the hotel as a whole.
