Very Mediocre Hotel

The Cincinnati Westin has a spectacular location in the downtown Cincinnati area. It is close to Great American Ball Park and the hotel faces Fountain Square. Our visit there was a return visit; however, it is very doubtful there will be a third. Our room was lacking many of the amenities usually seen at a highly rated hotel, but most of all it wasn't clean. The ice bucket had stale water and a previous patron's water bottle left behind which indicated it had not been touched by housekeeping. There were handprints on every mirror in the room, the bed was hastily made and very disheveled as if it had been used. The matress pad on the "heavenly bed" was nubby, and it felt like there was dirt/rocks in the bed. The air conditioning in the room had to be turned as low as it would go in order to cool the room. It finally cooled enough for sleeping, but we were doubtful. Upon my return home, I wrote the hotel manager (directly) a carefully crafted and very polite letter detailing my experience at "his" hotel and NOT asking for any compensation whatsoever. A response came over two weeks later and it was from the housekeeping manager; not the hotel manager. Apparently she was directed to reply on his behalf. This not only seemed disrespectful, but it also seemed like a poor business practice. The hotel manager should have seen it as his responsibility to address my concerns himself instead of "farming" it out to housekeeping staff. Our first trip to this hotel was very nice, hence our second visit. However, I can no longer recommend this hotel.

Westin a Great Stay

A great hotel to stay in. The front counter staff was very helpful and nice upon check in. It is a large corporate style hotel. But it is in the "business district."
The room was spacious and comfy. The only negative comment about the room is the closet does not have a light in it. So that's a little dark. And like everyone else, the wireless internet ought to be free. Other then that it was great.
The hotel is situated right downtown an easy 10 minute walk to Great America Ball Park or Paul Brown stadium. It's easy to get to and back from. There's plenty of shopping nearby from Tower Mall to Macy's and lot's of places to eat within a very short walking distance. Also, fountain square is right across the street and they have concerts there.
For those who like history, the William Howard Taft House is very close by and is a fun visit to make the trip a little educational.

We had a great time at the Westin. They let us have a late check out (4:30 pm). We had a great view of the city. We also had the chance to spend some time in the pool. It was very clean and relaxing. Only down fall was the bathroom had an odd odor but, it wasn't anything that we would complain about. I would stay again!!

Adequate accommodation in a large corportate style hotel. My room was so large the two double beds in it looked lost creating a bleak atmosphere unrelieved by the corporate style lamps and desk. The long corridors to the bedrooms are featureless and eerie (think - The Shining) and the decor looks like it hasn't been changed since the 1980s. Also the large red stain on the carpet (room 406) outside the bathroom was disturbing. In short, the place needs a face-lift. Disappointing for the price.

I stayed at the Westin for business and the location is great. You are near restaurants, bars, and it overlooks the square in downtown. For security purposes, you need to use your room key to access the various floors on the elevator or use the restrooms outside of the conference rooms. The guest rooms are large with the "typical" box television that can be swiveled in various directions. They charge $11.99 (per 24hrs) for internet access which worked ok, the connection at times is slow and it isn't WiFi. You connect through and Ethernet port. The decor of the room is a bit out of date (unlike the Westin I stayed at in D.C.) as the decor in the hallways but if you are looking for a secure hotel downtown with restaurant and pub access within walking distance, I would recommend this hotel.
