My main purpose for my stay at this hotel was to visit Longleat as it is only a 30 minute drive away. There is, however, little else to visit within this secluded location. As it is has a pub downstairs, we had our evening meal at the inn. The steak was fantastic but the cake was stale. The breakfast in the morning was equally delicious. The rooms were of a good size and clean but the hotel seemed to lack a friendly feel overall.

A great hotel for a quiet weekend break. Very clean everywhere, from the bar to the rooms. Good food from the breakfast to bar snacks, at reasonable prices. Staff very helpful. Newly decorated room with a fantastic power shower. would definately stay there again.

the rooms were lovely and clean, fresh and new. the breakfast was hearty and the location was quiet,but easy to find. the only problem was that a friend of ours fell down some stairs as one of the sensors for the lights did not come on at one of the landings. when they approached the staff about this they were a little unhelpful and they had to insist that an accident report be taken. there was no concern about her and no mention of a follow up check. it was a shame as the hotel itself was quite nice, but working in the industry myself, i was shocked that there seemed to be very little concern about her injuries on their part.

as part of my job i stay in hotels around the country and never met such rude staff, i have just had two days at highwayman inn shepton mallet.
the kitchen was shut at 8 oclock on a saturday night, you cannot get a drink after 10.55pm, no heating in the room, no hot water in the morning and when you complain the landlord argues with you.
i am wondering if it was "just one of them days" or has anybody else had a problem
