I stayed for a night when I visited Manchester Uni. The hostel was easy to locate and really close to the station. Arriving late and tired, the woman on reception was extremely friendly and sorted everything out for us without any hassle, even recommending some places that we could visit if we had spare time (which we didn't!). Our private ensuite room was lovely, clean and in great condition, we even got towels provided and a wee TV. The secret guest only kitchen was great for a late night cuppa and the beds were comfy. Our room was across from a busy bar and a road that buses regularly drove down so it was a bit noisy though this wasn't helped by the fact that we left our window open. Other guests were well behaved when they came in too. Free toast, jam and juice in the morning was perfect to set us up for the day and there was also a TV room, free wireless or computers with internet for ?1/30 mins. Left luggage facilities too. I thought this was a top hostel for a night's stay and if I was going to Manchester for a gig or low budget weekend trip I would definitely consider returning. I would say that anyone visiting the uni open days planning to stay here should make use of the bus service from Picadilly Station which is within easy walking distance.

Just came back here after a two night break in manchester. We had two rooms - with 3 single beds in each. If its at all possible avoid a room overlooking the main street, as you will get no sleep with the noise coming from the road - traffic, bars etc! Apart from that its a clean, friendly place with a good location in the city centre.

I spent two nights in a triple room at the Hilton Cambers and had a great time.
When my friend said she’d booked a hostel I was expecting a basic room with starched sheets and woolly blankets on the bed.
When I arrived I had a nice surprise to find the room was bright, comfortable and we had our own great bathroom.
There were two single beds and a double bed in the room, nice sized bathroom, TV, desk and cabinets to put your clothes.
Everything was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and you can help yourself to tea and toast any time of day and night.
The location of the hostel is in the centre of town so you can just walk out the door and enjoy all Manchester has to offer.
The only downside - if you go for a shower after 10am the water was cold because everyone had used it up.

A group of 11 of us stayed at Hilton Chambers for New Years Eve as we were going out in Manchester for the night. We were all pleasantly suprised when we got there. We each paid ?20 and had a room to ourselves instead of having to share with other people (which i dont think i would of liked) and i think the price was a little more expensive than normal as it was a popular night.
The room was clean, had an en-suite bathroom and shower which was also clean and suprisingly big. The bed covers were quite modern and the room was basically decorated with a laminate floor. The staff are on duty all the time so if you have any problems you can speak to someone and there is a nice decking area with bench's for the smokers.
Hilton Chambers was in a great location litterally just down one of the streets from the main high street, close to bars and we didnt need to fork out for a taxi at the end of the night.
i dont live far from Manchester but with the unreliability of trains and cost of a taxi it definately pays to stop over for the night. In fact were plannign another night out and i will definately be stopping there.
The place is secure and you have to pay ?1 deposit for a key card to enter the room and can get as many as you need. Only drawback i can think of is that Hilton Chambers and Hatters Hostel are run by the same company (if you've been on the website you will know this) and i rang up Hatters Hostel to book in, it was only that we rang back up to ask if there was any secure parking nearby that they told us we were booked in at Hilton Chambers, could have been annoying if we had got there and then had to find out, so it might be worth a quick phone call to double check.
This hotel is perfect for young people who are going out into Manchester or are on a budget. I wouldn't recommend this to a family as there are people coming in at all times- we didnt get in untill about 3 - 3.30 .
