BettySwallocks has stayed here and says:
"Only stayed 1 night but still managed to get a discount priced double for only £65. Spotless room, bar & brasserie is quite large with plenty of comfortable sofas to relax on. Buffet breakfast was superb for £11. Nice size indoor pool & jacuzzi etc... shared with Health Club members & pity they looked..."

Unsafe and definitely not a 3 star hotel

I recommend this hotel for: Older travelers, Tourists, Young singles.
I stayed in the Menzies Silverlink hotel on business for 3 nights and I will not be going back. Rooms were scruffy and unsafe. As a woman travelling on her own I do not expect windows not to lock. I moved rooms twice, transporting my luggage myself with no help from staff and in two out of the three rooms I stayed in the window did not lock - in the first the lock was not even attached to the window. In the first room, there was no shower curtain and bed covers were worn through. Reception was unmanned nearly every time I went there and the staff at reception were unapologetic for what happened. Starters and desserts in the restaurant are overpriced but main courses are reasonable. Staff at the bar and at the swimming pool are the only redeeming feature of this hotel - they were helpful and very courteous. Other members of staff should learn from them. Do not stay in this hotel if you wish for a safe stay. My opinion of the Menzies hotel chain has dropped significantly - it is definitely not a 3 star hotel.

I had to stay at this hotel on a buisness trip for over three weeks and by the end of the first week i was fed up and ready to go but my company had booked and couldn't move me. Worse still I have to go back again. The Food is frozen and cooked for you nothing it seems is fresh bought in. I had Fish and chips, the fish was like a jumbo fish finger and burnt and the chips are obvious frozen variety. Next I had Tikka Masala and rice and this had no taste at all it was like a frozen ready meal. And twice I had a steak with chips and both time it came with a piece of gristle or vein (more like rubber) which made it nearly impossible to eat. All of my work colleagues had similar problems with the food. The breakfast is of OK standard if you get down early. I had a different room each week and every one was a bit grotty. The heating has a mind of it's own you cannot control it at all. The showers in the first 2 were very good but the 3rd was very poor. The TV remotes had no battery covers and the bed linen was not changed every day. The pool and Gym were the only redeeming features of this hotel. The bar prices are a bit steep ?3.30 for a coke. The staff on reception are polite if unhelpful but I think that is beyond their control. The restaraunt staff at breafast are really good but the bar staff are a bit lacking.

We booked the hotel for 1 night and at 60 pounds for b and b it was really good value, the room was clean and tidy, the breakfast was very good and was included in the price, the swimming pool and gym were fine and the staff were helpful when asked for anything. Drink prices were quite expensive The hotel is a 20 minute bus ride to the city centre and cost 4.80 for 2 adults and 1 child, we went for a meal in a place called the Gait which has about a dozen or so restaurants and bars, we chose Wokmania which had a buffet, 10 starters, 36 mains, and loads of desserts, all for 6.90 for adults 1.99 for kids very good value.

stayed at this hotel for two nights. For some reason was upgraded to an executive room and was very impressed. Queen sized bed and a big TV with a nice bathroom. Not impressed with the restaurant food at dinner time but the bar food is good. Ordered strawberries and cream fro dessert and even though not on the menu they rustled it up for me anyway! The pool and jacuzzi was freezing, was told it was due to something being broken but its no good to me if Im only there for a short period of time! Reception very helpful and always smiling and the bar staff were ok. a few looked as if they didnt know what they were doing but it was fun to watch! a few of my colleagues had a problem ordering drinks after a certain time but I went to bed early so no problems for me!

Stayed here for the weekend while at a conference elsewhere in the city. We had no cause for complaint - but were not overwhelmed either. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable, if rather hot (we kept the window open the whole time). There was a bath and good shower. The leisure facilities were also clean. The pool was a reasonable temperature - not too hot, but not cold either. The sauna is very small, but the steam room is bigger. Leisure staff seemed happy to offer assistance. We ate in the (limited) restaurants on the adjacent retail park both evenings, but the breakfast buffet was extensive and frequently replenished. The food was quite acceptable. Would we go back? Yes, if we needed to stay in Newcastle - but I wouldn't go rushing back there just for the fun of it.
