I was agreeably surprised by my experience, having read the reviews posted on this site. I was not looking forward to the trip but the hotel was fresh and the only part you could possibly complain about was the scuffed area where guests had bumped cases into the awkwardly placed lift.
Our room was excellent and spacious. The double glazing kept out what traffic noise there was but we did not feel the room was stuffy. The bathroom was very good. I did find the bed hard, (I am unusual in preferring a very soft mattress), but my friend slept very well and the pillows suited both of us. Some noise came through from the neighbouring room.
Breakfast was well cooked and the service excellent.

We stayed at this hotel following a family wedding, which I have to say was excellent. Granted the exterior of the hotel is unremarkable, and parts of the interior could do with a facelift, especially around the lift area, however the lobby was attractive and up to date, with lovely contemporary flower arrangements and a welcoming open fireplace (it was march). The rooms were adequate and the food was high quality, including the wedding catering. The staff were wonderfully helpful, efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We thought the hotel had a nice relaxed atmosphere, and represented good value for money considering the room cost little more than a travelodge and including a generous buffet breakfast.

I can only presume that the 4 stars on the signage of the hotel are simply the sign design as they cant possibly be a recognised merit of the hotel.
The hotel is very tired in its decor, lots of artex and an unhealthy ammount of nicotine yellow paint used.
The lift only goes to the second floor, so when you are on the third floor, you have to carry your bags round the corridors and up a final flight of stairs. It also appears they fill the hotel from top to bottom. The hotel has full leisure facilities, pool, steam, sauna, solarium and gym, fairly compact but there none the less.
The restaurant menu was limited, though we were told it was temporary as a new menu was on its way.
A redeaming feature of this hotel is the staff, a nice team of people offering the best service they can.

We were taken to the hotel as part of a mystery tour thing with coach company, obviously they had big discounts but I think they were very disappointed with the hotel too.
The rooms were very hot, no chance of cooling them down - had to have the windows open to make it bearable but there was a wedding reception on in the function room downstairs (just under our window) with music blaring out until gone 1am.
The rooms in general were really poor - very small, wallpaper peeling off, the most uncomfortable bed I have every had the misfortune to sleep in - the springs had gone on one side - really creaky and generally grotty. The bed linen wasn't good either, old tatty blanket covered in a nice throw. The ceilings and walls are paper thin - you can hear everything - the floors are really creaky - we were kept awake most of the night with people coming back to their rooms and walking around above us - the floors and ceilings are terrible.
The leisure club was poor - the pool was more like a paddling pool - I WOULD NOT CLASS THIS AS FOUR STAR - NO WAY!
The staff were ok but there seemed to be a high turnover as we asked directions to the leisure suite and they didn't know where to point us - she said she would ask someone for us - but they didn't know either (!!) The corridors are small, dark and the lay-out of the place is very confusing with poor directional signage.
I would not stay in this hotel again if you paid me! The worst experience ever.
