We went to stay in Actons to get a long weekend getaway. It is a great location, great value and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. The housekeeping staff also need to be specially commended for their honesty as my partner left a very valuable watch behind and housekeeping made sure we got it - integrity not always found, even in the world's top hotels.
We both had treatments at the spa and found the staff in the spa to be superb and very well run. The spa probably needs a bit of a facelift but I would highly recommend it if you are staying in Kinsale to recharge weary limbs in a delightful setting.
All in all I would definitely recommend Acton's hotel & Spa and it's location in Kinsale is second to none.

We stayed at the Acton for one night in July 2008. The lobby, bar, and gym are great. The room and bathroom were very shabby and definitely not worth the price of 65 euro p.p.s. which does not include breakfast. This was the worst accomodation we experienced in our 10 day trip to Ireland.

I stayed at Actons will my partner during June for a weekend. We had a great time particularly as Kinsale is so romantic. We were delighted with the Hotel as our room was fab and overlooked the Kinsale Harbour. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. We had breakfast to our room, followed by a swim and a full body massage - pure heaven. Unfortunatly I left my watch behind and only realised two days later that I must have left it in the en-suite. I telephone the hotel and to my utmost surprise my watch was found by housekeeping and was waiting to be claimed in lost property . I was so thrilled as the watch was expensive and of significant sentimental value. You don't get that type of honest y in many places these days. So a big thanks to the House Keeping staff at Actons.

Was recently 20 years married so to celebrate we returned to hotel were we had our reception. Actons hotel is located on the waterfront in Kinsale and our room was overlooking the water, boy what a magnificent view to wake up to. We had breakfast in our room to take full advantage of that view and the beautiful weather made it all the more wonderful. From start to finish our stay in Actons could not have gone better, the staff, the food and our room were just excellent. The staff in Actons really deserve a mention as today it is all to familiar to meet staff who do not make an effort to make you feel welcome this cannot be said of the staff in Actons. They are both welcoming and warm and make your stay in Actons all the more wonderful.
Therefore I have no hesitation in recommending Actons Hotel if you are intending to visit Kinsale. Enjoy

After a lovely stay at Actons Hotel in February we decided we'd go back for a romantic weekend away. Kinsale is beautiful and it really lives up to it's title of Gourmet Capital of Ireland!
We arrived at the hotel late on the Saturday night, we had booked a Harbour View room again with beautiful views of the hotels garden and the harbour. The room itself was beautiful and had been refurbished since our last visit, the crisp white linen, duvets, extremely comfortable bed, bright and airy room makes it very hard to leave. We decided to book a table at Jim Edwards for the first night of our stay, a little expensive but worth every penny and I wouldd highly recommend the seafood platter, it's delicious!
When we arrived back after dinner we decided to go in to the hotel bar and noted a lot of changes in the hotels lounge and bar, it looks great! The staff in each department of this hotel are friendly, professional, offer excellent service and they are a big part of why we go back time and time again as it feels like a home away from home.
We could not fault a single part of this hotel, the food is delicious and if you are in or around Kinsale on a Sunday I would highly recommend the Actons Hotel Sunday Carvery Lunch for ?14.50 per person for a main course which is very generous in portions but try and leave room for the desserts as they are amazing especially the homemade apply pie. All I can say is Actons Hotel is first class and we will be returning very soon as the hotel really is excellent value for money, as my partner said on the Sunday afternoon whilst walking around Kinsale "we forget we have treasures in Ireland like Kinsale and Actons Hotel which never fails to make our break perfect".
