The Brehon is a lovely hotel, with spacious rooms and large bathrooms. It could have been nearly magnificent had the bathroom in our second floor corner double room not been poorly designed and executed. There was one low-watt bulb in each of the two ceiling fixtures and an equally low-watt magnifying mirror. Combined with the beige ceiling, walls and floor, the general effect was of trying to shave or apply face make-up through brown eyedrops. There were no grab bars in or near the round bottomed tub, and in spite of the size of the room the shower was very small and inconvenient to enter without flooding the room. The closet's hanging area was too short to accommodate a tall person's evening dress and there were no other hooks in the room or bath for this purpose. Hanging even temporarily in the shower was also impossible because the hangers were the "no-steal" type. The bedside lights contained 40-watt bulbs, inadequate for reading. The desk chair was too low for comfort in using a laptop, and the two easy chairs were both less than comfortable and located far from any reading light. In summary, this would be a good hotel for people with 20-20 vision, perhaps sportsmen with electric shavers and a short wardrobe, who are too exhausted at night to need good lighting for any activity. The breakfast is hearty and tasty, just the right start for a day on the golf links or by the fishing stream.

A group af 30 lady golfers stayed in this wonderful hotel for 3 nights.We received first class treatment from the moment we entered the hotel. Food was superb. Attention to detail was a pleasure to experience.I would have no hesitation in returning again

Stayed there recently for a weekend and attended wedding in the hotel. The staff are fantastic, so pleasant and helpful. The hotel is decorated beautifully and the rooms are great. We had a room with a full terrace area, a great bonus! The restaurant is one of the best I've ever eaten at. The menu is really fantastic and the service is second to none. Can't wait to get back and try the Spa the next time

Where do I start on how great this hotel is? My husband had to attend a work seminar one weekend and so took me along!! Everything about this place is sheer class and elegance. From the outside the building itself is rather imposing but once you walk into the huge, airy reception and receive one of the most pleasant welcomes ever, you will feel right at home. The staff cannot do enough to help while at the same time they don't get in the way, don't bother you and as opposed to the practice in a lot of hotels these days, they most certainly don't try and enter your room when you have a privacy sign on the door! The bedroom, a standard room, was big, roomy and comfortable. the bathroom was an amazing size and the heated floor was a nice touch. I would not mind too much about the absence of tea making facilities in the room, I think it is a deliberate omission, as providing it would mean having to also provide that awful UHT milk which would not fit in with the sheer excellence of everything else there. Food was fab and even the bar lunch I had was lovely and not over priced. The only thing I would say is that they urge you to re-use your towels which is no problem I don't mind that but it would be good to have a heated towel rail to avoid having to re-use damp towels. I would defininately go again - every week if I could!
