GlasgowBruno has stayed here and says:
"This is an excellent hotel which exceeded our expectations. The room was first class and the food at lunchtime, dinner in the evening and at breakfast was excellent. The view over the docks made me think of San Francisco! A very good hotel in what appears to be a much improving area of the country. I..."

I stayed one night at this hotel as part of a small conference, which was taking place in the hotel. The hotel is located close to the river Tay, separated from the city (as the whole riverside is) by a disastrous 1970's style urban boulevard, but close to a small waterfront shopping complex, which I did not visit. The hotel is modern and the design comtemporary. The room was comfortable, although my room was smoking (booking problem not due to hotel). The level of comfort was very good as was the service from the young, enthusistic and efficient team.

What a great stay! Arrived and checked into a great room on the 5th floor overlooking the water, clean, big comfy bed and lovely toiletries. Enjoyed a swim in the lovely pool and spent a little too much time in the great wooden spa baths! Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic - service and food delightful, the chef had some incredible creations and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Breakfast the next day was good. A lovely, relaxing stay, would highly recommend.

The rooms could not be faulted. Furnuished to a very high standard and views were fantastic. My moan is the dining room - very modern decor which amplifies noise. Having breakfast was so noisy. Chairs scraping on wooden floors, voices amplified. The bar was so crowded when we came down for diner that we could hardly get out of the lift. In the end, we went to the local chinese buffet for diner just to get some peace.even though we had paid for diner at the hotel. Great hotel if you dont plan to use the public areas.

Booked a mid week stay at the Dundee Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa for my 40th birthday, We booked a deluxe room and then called back and decided to upgrade to a suite. After reading the reviews, we were really looking forward to it. As most of the reviews say it looks a bit shabby from the outside but once you walk inside the reception it is very nice. The room We had a great view overlooking the dock and the large windows really showed it off. The room was nice (if a bit small) but a bit shabby round the edges, cracked plaster some flaking paint, just a but tired looking. Under the table was all sticky where something had been spilt and not cleaned properly. The bathroom was smart and spacious with all the toiletries but round the base of the shower tiles could do with a good scrub ( the tile grout and silicone was black and spoiled the look of the bathroom) The fan in the sitting room would not switch off or do anything except blow warm air. The bed was great and really comfy. When booking it said that there were complementary sweet and savoury snacks... one small pack of Pringles and a small box of jelly beans, but only on the first night. The Restaurant We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent and it was very busy and a good atmosphere and very reasonably priced. Breakfast The breakfast was just what you would expect after such a good meal the night before, just about everything you could imagine and it was all good. The only down point with breakfast was on the second day we came down for breakfast at 9.45 and the food was still hot and plentiful but we could hardy hear ourselves speak as the waitress’s were hoovering the restaurant and setting the tables for lunch. I know they have a job to do but surly it does not all have to be done when there is still several people eating. Overall the hotel is nice and the staff friendly and really central for all the shops, but for the money I would drive a bit further south and get better value for my ?400. We didn’t complain about any of the mentioned as really its was nothing major, just enough to dampen our stay. It was just not as special as we hoped it would be.

I stayed at the Apex City in March on a business trip. It is slightly unprepossessing from the outside - modern with an unusual finish - but upon entering it is a lovely, modern, spacious lobby. Rooms are lovely - enormous comfortable beds, freeview tv, modern fittings and the bathrooms are stunning with lovely toiletries and a complimentary rubber duck! Tea / coffee etc nicely presented in a stylish box, hidden wall lighting makes a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful - we had couriered 6 boxes prior to our stay which was no problem to them, and these were delivered to our room on arrival. Receptions staff managed to find us a local and very good restaurant and book us a table at 10pm on a Sunday night - no mean feat! The bar area and restaurant are light and airy and the large DC Thomson cartoon murals are a lovely touch. Add to this a gorgeous floor to ceiing view of the quayside from my room and you have a great place.
