PinkSunshine has stayed here and says:
"Spent the night here on 28th Jan before flying to Jamaica early on the 29th. Arrived about 9.30pm after driving down from Leicestershire. Parked easily, checked in easily. I had requested a cot in the bedroom a couple of weeks before when I booked, and this was up and ready. The huge room also had a double..."

I stayed in the Europa on the 16th of June 08,and was going to cancel our booking after reading the reviews. We thought it was great, the staff were very good,I also loved the food. There were 17 of us and everyone thought it was brilliant.I would use this hotel again without a doubt.Im actually a fussy person,I really was delighted when I arrived.

Trip Advisor user UK The stay at the Europa (second visit) was an improvement on the first stay. Room OK, Qiuet, Comforable bed tea/coffee facilities fine Bar snack very good Staff friendly The car park could do with being tarmac treated in all areas. The free coach transfer is a nice touch but could be improved to monitor the coming and going of arrivals from airport to hotel, as on this occasion my Wife and I had over a one hour wait. In essence a pleasant stay for myself and my Wife, a pleasant overnight stay.

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.. After having a lovely week in Ibiza, we stayed at the Europa for literally 6 hours, if we hadn't got 2 kids with us we wouldn't have stayed at all!! (they were so tired).. where do i start?? ..curtains hanging off pole ..horrid stench ..carpets were not hoovered ..dust and debris in wardrobe ..kids beds not made properly ..hair in the bath ..the toilet roll had been dropped in the loo, fished out and left to dry ..bathroom tiles had scum on them ..dog blankets on the bed (horrid scratchy ones) ..motorway noise ..next doors squeaky bed ..humming noise coming from the bathroom ..and to top it off the beds were like sleeping on slabs of concrete jo-jo Leics

We nearly drove straight past this hotel as the signs are not very prominent. Looking at the photos the hotel looks presentable, however I think these were taken a while ago, and given the proximity to the M23 maybe the external decorating should be done more often. The hotel didn't have our booking when we arrived, but luckily still had rooms available so we continued to book in. Staff were quite helpful and did try various combinations of names that the booking could be under as we didn't make it. Our room was located on the ground floor, through what seemed like endless heavy oak fire doors. We were using the hotel as a base for a night out and needed to use the room to get ready. It was not the most impressive of rooms but did on first glance seem clean and given previous reviews I checked the bed which was happily bug free! On closer inspection, the room wasn't as clean as it could be. The bathroom floor was a bit sticky, leading me to navigate around it by shuffling on the bath mat. I didn't really want to touch the shower head to adjust the aim.. There was about an inch of dust on a wire under the bathroom shelf. Helpfully there was a set of weighing scales - however I think they were bought in the 50's and hadn't been cleaned since. The beds were quite hard but I don't mind that, when we checked out in the morning I did notice that all the fire doors were propped open with towels - bit of a health and safety issue there.. We were too late to eat breakfast but at ?11.50 we weren't bothered, I notice also that there was a ?2.50 charge for using the "newly renovated spa" including pool, I didn't enquire if that Meant guests had to pay too. This is a fairly reasonably priced hotel but I think they are relying too heavily on a captive market being close to Gatwick and could do so much more. I don't expect frills when I pay this much to stay in a hotel, however, if I am paying to stay a night somewhere, I expect it to be at least as clean as my home...

I was traveling with a college group on a tour of Spain and on the return trip back to the US, we had an overnight at scheduled at Gatwick. Right before the trip began, I noticed that the hotel had made the list as one of the top five dirtiest/worst hotels in the UK. Needless to say, I was expecting a total flea bag, as were the rest of the members of the group. I was amused when we finally arrived. Yes, the hotel decor is dated--very dated; the hallways are a maze with huge fire doors making the trek to find your room a bit problematic; and more than one student commented that the ambience reminded them of the book/movie, "The Shining," however, the hotel was actually quite clean. Because the bathroom fixtures are past their prime (gold at one time, now worn down to some of the stainless beneath) and the furnishings are old and scuffed, it might lead some to look at the hotel as if it were dirty. We were disappointed that the bathroom didn't have a hair dryer and no outlet for one, only to discover that the dryer is in the desk drawer in the bedroom in front of the mirror--odd, but it worked well and dried hair just fine (it's not only in the drawer, but wired into electricity there, too). Breakfast was great with lots of food to choose from--eggs, toast, beans, tomatoes, sausage, pastries, juices, etc.--and the dining room was clean and well tended to by the staff. There is a bar, but we got in too late the night before to give it a try. Is it the Ritz? No. Is it a dirty flea bag? No. Is it a place to sleep and take it like it is? Yes. I thought it was a hoot and I'd stay there again. The overwhelming consensus with the group was that they liked the Gatwick better than some of the other places they'd stayed on the tour.
