We are a family of five and got 2 rooms next to each other ( no adjoining rooms but that was ok ), the kids stayed on a room with 2 double beds and 2 futons. My wife and I had a king size bed. This must have been a grand hotel years ago, it is not as new as others but it's clean, perfectly mantained, ideally located, has all modern conveniences, a friendly staff and great value for your money. We loved the pool and the beach, which was right across from the hotel, had the best location of all the mayor hotels. We had a great time in Cartagena and this hotel is partly the reason why. We are picky eaters but we had no complaints about breakfast , the fruit was always fresh, the croissants warm and the coffee and eggs anyway we wanted them. We will definitively return to Cartagena and if they have rooms available at the time of our next visit we hope to stay there!

A pesar de que las instalaciones son viejas, está muy bien mantenido. Tiene 2 edificios nuevos que me hubiera gustado que mantuvieran la arquitectura original. Las habitaciones son amplias y cómodas y los baños impecables. La comida, a pesar de no ser muy variada es deliciosa, con la sazón que nos gusta a los latinos. Lo mejor es la simpatía y cordialidad del personal de manteniemiento y de quienes atienden el reataurant. A pesar de que nuestra estadía fue muy agradable, tengo varias sugerencias: El personal administrativo debe entender que el turista extranjero no conoce la ciudad, costumbres y servicio y debería saber informar mejor al huesped y mejorar el trato, a pesar de lo tonto que parexcan nuestros planteamientos, ya que no vivimos en ese país. También deben advertir a los huéspedes y demás personas que piensan visitar el hotel, que la playa no reúne los requisitos básicos en cuanto a confort y seguridad al no contar con infraestructura para recibir viajeros que están pagando por un servicio 5 estrellas. Por último, recomiendo cambiar los colchones. Son tan viejos como el hotel. Lo recomiendo, pero no como un hotel 5 estrellas.

My friend and I stayed in this hotel for 5 days 4 nights as part of a package tour. Included in the package was breakfast and either lunch or diner for each day. The package was about $750 a person including airfare to/from Bogota. The package deal was a great value. My understanding is that without a package, the price of the hotel hovers around $315 a night. At this price (non-package) I would not recommend this hotel. As a package deal I would. Now the details. The hotel had a nice exterior located in the modern tourist area of bocagrande. It looked like a 5-star hotel from this vantage point. However after my stay i have to conclude that the hotel is at most a 4-star hotel. The reception area looked like it needed some renovating. Our room was nice. The airconditioning (and this is important) worked very well. The bed was large and adequate. Not the most comfortable but average. The bathroom only had a shower but the water pressure wasn't strong and hot water was limited for some reason. The breakfast buffet was adequate with a decent selection. Lunch and Dinner buffets was also adequate with decent selections. The meals however were not all that exciting. All meals were served in an open area next to the swimming pool. Because Cartagena was warm, it was not comfortable at meal times. The pool was again average but i did enjoy the live entertainment at meal times. Service was largely average. I would recommend staying at this hotel only if you do so on a package deal and want to stay in the area and if you really will spend most of your time out and about enjoying the beautiful city of cartagena. Personally I would rather stay in the old historic section of the city but I understand that the prices of hotels situated there are considerably higher.

This is a very classic hotel in Cartagena. A bit dated. Has very nice pool and a mini-forest as a patio. Food is great and staff very accommodating. We've stayed there twice already. It is also very close to the old city.
