"Service - very friendly and helpful, nice welcome. All the front desk staff were comfortable speaking English. Room - Biggish room with high ceiling. Decor was dated but everything was very clean. Bathroom was huge with brilliant water pressure. I found it noisy at night (drunks yelling in the street..."

I was dubious when I read some of the other reviews..but this hotel surprised us! Its right in the centre of Brno, across the street from the bus station. The reception was spacious with a bar and seating area. There is an attached casino and at night there were quite a few ladies of the night waiting around the bar area! We stayed in room 109, it was at the back of the hotel and it was a really nice room. As the trams and buses run early in the morning, it can be noisy at the front. The decor was modern and bright and the room was quite large. The bathroom was a good size and again had modern fittings. There was a mini bar and a room safe and some english speaking channels on the TV. The breakfast room was excellent, with a wonderful array of foods. We used the student agency bus across the road to visit Prague and Vienna. Both journeys took just over two hours and we were supplied with a movie, magazine and refreshments. As we left early for the journey one morning, the hotel made us up a little pack lunch! we also asked for a late check-out on our last day, we didn't leave our room until 4pm, at no extra cost! The town centre is just a few minutes walk and has so many lovely bars and restaurants. Its great for shopping, but most shops close half day on a saturday. Overall this was a great find, I would definately stay here again.

Booked this hotel as a bit of a treat on our tour of Czech, and was not dissapointed. Accross the road from the train station and in a great location. Reception was a bit frosty but professional, we were dressed in hiking gear with our ruckies on, but for 2 nights we paid £140. Room was great, We decided to book a superior room, thinking we may like the extra space, as a married couple we found the ony thing we used the extra space for was to put our bags and spread out. Spotlessly clean with flatscreen tv on bedroom wall with nothing on it of any interest. There was another TV in the suite area with Pay Per View movies and the like, mini bar etc. Bathroom was spotless and finished to a high standard. Breakfast was buffet style and fine, best scrambled eggs I think I have ever tasted. Liked the hotel a lot but think we have seen Brno now in our 2 day stopover, so probably will not return.

The Grand is a superb hotel opposite the main station in Brno. The bus (76) from the airport stops outside the door, virtually! The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished, with a very stylish feel to the rooms, reception and the restaurant. I would recommend asking for a room at the back if you don't want to be woken up by the trams at 4 a.m.! Breakfast included hot and cold buffet items - everything you could wish for, in fact. I would be very happy to stay here again.

Well, I've been booked at Grandhotel Brno by my travel agent. I had to do that without looking at TA before, and I was not satisfied about that! I arrived at the hotel: placed just 2 minutes from the main Brno central square, right in the front of the train station. It was founded in 1890, and, unfortunally, you can see it.. I was given a small single room at the 4th floor; a single bed and a desk. Bathoroom was very small too, with shower. Furnitures were aged, wooden style, and, due to the low lights, the idea was of a even smaller room. The hotel is being restaurating: they were working right in those days at 4th floor ceiling lights, starting earlt in the morning and finishing late in the afternoon. Reception girls were ok, a little too professionals.. I just asked them a map, and I was given a B/W copy, with some short indications. Breakfast was perfect, both continental and international.. Restaurant was very good, with small choices but good taste and presentation, and not too overpriced (20 euro).. Parking is right in the front of the Hotel, on the main street: Hotel has some reserved placed, and you are asked to pay about 12 euros every night to park the car in them. A boy is often out of the Hotel to safetly look after cars. In my personal opinion, I think that the Hotel itself, despite its wonderfull location, is a little bit overpriced (I payed 125 euro/night), probably due to his WorldHotel chain partnership. I'm sure double rooms are bigger and more confortable, but I suggest to you to have a look around before booking this hotel.
