*On arrival they assigned me the wrong room. In stead of an Executive Suite (which I booked), they wanted to put me in a standard room. After calling to the central reservations they finally believed that I really did book a suite, and got the correct room. *The suites itself are spacious and comfortable. Of course internet charges in the room are huge. *The Executive Lounge is not opened all day long, and they don't offer that much. At breakfast I was only allowed to have a small breakfast. unbelievabl, because I paid more for an Executive Suite & Service. *Location is ok: shopping in Essen is not so good, but D?sseldorf is about 25 kilometres away. The hotel is next to a big opera house, so in the evenings it can get quite busy in the area. *At check out they wanted to overcharge me. Again they had to call to the central reservations before they believed that I booked a lower rate.

We stayed at the Sheraton for a few days during a meeting. General the hotel is very nice, great staff especially during Breakfast. Great breakfastbuffet, good Quality.

We stayed - me and my wife - in march 2007. Maybe 5 star are a little bit overestimated, but 4 are more than deserved. Overall the hotel is very nice. Nice location with parking facility under the hotel, friendly staff, Incredible breakfast. The center and the shopping district is a walk away, so it's the train station (in case you need it). The hotel lays near a very nice park with a small lake, so if the weather's allows it you can jog or just walk around it. The fitness room is little but all apparrel were functioning. Back to Essen I would surely come back to the Sheraton.

I never thought I would have gone to Essen, Germany... but Since the LOVE PARADE was hosted there this year, we decided to make the trek. It turned out that the Sheraton Essen was the cheapest hotel we could find that weekend anyways! Lucky us! We arrived in Essen by train, so the hotel was actually within walking distance... mind you, it was a good couple blocks - but manageable. The hotel is also conveniently located RIGHT next door to the Opera house... and approximately 4 blocks away from a strip of local restaurants for late evening eating. The hotel itself was nice. Although I found the room to be a tad bit old and shabby. The bed was more typical of European Hotel than it was of being Sheraton quality - the mattress was a tad flat and the pillows were flimsy. Considering it boasted the Sheraton name, I expected a little more. The biggest perk was the the room was actually VERY roomy... it had our large bed, the desk, chair, coffee table, and TWO little love seat sized benches. Our room ended up having a view of the front of the hotel and the Opera House, so that was nice also. The restaurant in the Hotel was pretty good. Service in the restaurant was excellent. We had only dinner there that night, but felt that it was quality food.
