We stayed in the Hotel Belvedere for a week ending 23rd Sept 2007 and were very happy indeed with the experience. The review of this hotel dated 27th August 2007 says most of it, but I have to add that the room we had was very large, with a balcony and a decent sized bathroom with shower. So when you book, and I recommend you do, then ask for a room with balcony. We had room 110, so 210 and 310 will all be similar. The north and east facing rooms have a view of the road or over the building next door, so pay the extra and get a south or west facing room with fantasic views over the valley to the mountains. Overall a very nice place, with extremely friendly staff. Is the wine expensive? No more so than any other 4 star hotel. Buying by the glass is more economical as they do not measure but pour by eye, and the staff are more than generous with the measures. We would definately stay there again.

Great food, service and extras more than make up for small room

Our second visit to this hotel and we would happily (and probably will) use it again. Overall we felt that, although the rooms were on the small side, the extras included in the room price, excellent food and service make this by Swiss standards value for money for a four star hotel. The hotel is being extended (due to be completed by the end of 2007) but the works had been planned so that they did not intrude on our stay. It would be worth checking whether the facilities and room options have changed for 2008. Although we booked four months ahead rooms were heavily booked - especially the single rooms - and we had to change the dates of our planned stay in order to make a reservation. On both our visits the hotel appeared to be full so booking ahead may be neccessary. The hotel is open all the year round (many hotels in the area only open for the summer and winter seasons). It was noticeable that this had enabled the Hotel to retain and develop most of the staff from our previous visit which contributed to the excellent service we received. Although not expected, it was appreciated that many of the staff could speak better English than on our previous visit (Most of the locals have German as a second language after Romansh as their first.) We felt our room was small for a four star hotel. On our previous visit we had a larger room but only a small shower room. This time for a similar price we had a smaller room but with a bath in the en suite. The rooms have been recently refurbished and as with the whole hotel were very clean. We took a room on the north (road) side of the hotel which costs a little less than the south (mountain views) side but we thought it would be cooler and noise from the road is minimal. My father had a well appointed single room with a south side view at no extra charge and didn't have any complaints other than it was on the small side for a four star hotel and (as with all rooms in the tower) had no lift access. All rooms not in the tower appear to have lift access. The hotel offers excellent meals. Breakfast was an extensive hot and cold buffet including local specialities. Dinner was five courses. If the weather is good you can ask to eat on the terrace which (in addition to great views) may be prefereable during hot weather as there is no air conditioning. We felt that the wine list was overpriced but no more so than every other Swiss Hotel we have stayed at (from about CHF50 per bottle). There was live music in the bar and reaturant most evenings (usually piano) which we found a welcome addition rather than an intrusion. Our room rate also included were free use of the town's spa (although you pay extra for the Roman Irish Baths). The attractive spa includes hot cold & salt water pools, jacuzzis, steam rooms, sauna's sun lamps etc. We found a trip to the spa excellent relaxation after a day out walking. The hotel provide bath robe, towel and slippers and bag and there is a covered 200m or so covered walkway linking the hotel directly to the spa. You need ot bring you own bathing costume. Our room rate also included free use of the local busses and trains in the Lower Engadine and Mustair valleys (in the summer this is extended to the local cable car and chair lifts but not we udnerstand in the winter). Although the main bus stops are five minutes walk away the town bus stops right outside and saves a fifteen minute (uphill walk to the station). The hotel taxi/minibus transported us and our luggage to/from the station at the start and end of our stay.

We stayed at the Hotel Belvedere Scuol during the weekend from the 27th to the 29th of October 2006. A GREAT EXPERINECE. The Hotel is in a perfect position with direct connection to the SPA, the restaurant is great and the whole Team was very efficient and kind! Not to miss: the internat SPA of the Hotel and the Irish Roman Bath at the main SPA. We will come back as soon as possible. Tiziano, Stefano, Juri & Javier

Tiziano, Stefano, Juri & Javier
