"If you hate walking in ski boots and want to eat good food and not lots of molten cheese, Hotel Fiescherblick is the place to stay. You can ski back to the hotel, which is in the most stunning location opposite the church with the magnificent Eiger behind it, and the bus is right outside the hotels..."

Charming hotel

The Fiescherblick is a charming hotel in the heart of Grindelwald with a cosy atmosphere. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms large with excellent hot water and shower pressure. For hardcore skiers, the hotel is within walking distance to a major ski run (First) and next to a bus stop for the rest of the valley. The restaurants, and main shops including ski hire are all within a 5 to 10 minute walk . Enjoy.

Absolutely amazing experience. This hotel combines luxury with a world-class quality service. The hotel manager and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideal for either a family experience or for couples. Because I ski a lot, I was also very happy with the convenience of the location, with the hotel being only 4 minutes walk from the 'First' lifts. I would never stay anywhere else but at the Fiescherblick in Grindelwald. Truly a gem of a hotel!

This is hotel made us feel completely at home. The managers were unbelievably sweet and attended to our every need. They gave us information about train times, ski rentals, ski passes, sledge runs and other useful things. The restaurant is closed at the moment but breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All in all it is a fantastic place to stay when enjoying the Alps!

My family spent new year at this charming and friendly hotel. An ideal base for a skiing trip. It is a pretty hotel in a scenic spot. When we booked we were told that the bar was open but the restaurant closed for refurbishment this year. The staff could not have been more helpful, warning us that we needed to book a restaurant well in advance for New Years eve and presenting us with 3 or 4 options to consider. They also made suggestions for other evenings and booked tables for us.A classic continental breakfast is served and a tip from one in the know...a boiled egg is available on request. Our teenage girls recommend the hot chocolate. Good value for money, it is an unpretentious hotel. perfectly clean and extremely comfortable beds with en-suite bathrooms and masses of hot water to ease aching limbs. Ideally located for skiing. The bus to the ski lift stops right outside the front of the hotel and there are scenic blue and red runs so you can ski back to within 100 yrds of the hotel at the end of the day. A warm welcome in the bar which has a separate games area with pool table, darts, and a selection of board games to entertain before or after heading out to one of the many restaurants in the village. A great time had by all and we look forward to going again next year. Helpful service: we travelled by train from Zurich and once all train connections had been achieved (easily) we called the hotel who arranged a taxi for the short drive to the top of the village. It is easy to get around without a car but saw that the hotel has plenty of parking. Highly recommended by my family.

The charm of Grindelwald ended at the doorstep of this establishment. The two brothers who own it are as cold and slippery as the nearby ice-blue glaciers. As seasoned travellers, we know what to expect from cultural differences in familiarity, however, these two gentlemen essentially treated us as interlopers to their "home." That aside, their contempt to visitors apparently overlapped into misrepresentation to the state of their hotel. We booked our room directly with them. (My boyfriend is fluent in German - so no chance for language barrier.) At no time during their phone correspondence did "the brothers Grimm" disclose their hotel restaurant is closed due to planned remodelling and construction of new condos on their parking lot next door. (Although we noticed their servant boy brought them in a full lunch in the dining room.) When we inquired about it, we were given the third-degree as if we were impertinent to have asked. The lack of courtesy, combined with the street traffic and non-adjustable heat in the rooms, (not to mention soon-to-be construction noise) makes selection of this hotel not well-advised. There are so many other charming places in town to choose from. We recommend the Wetterhorn - where we had lunch and dinner. It has a great kitchen, visited by the locals, staff couldn't have been more pleasant. Rooms share a bathroom although they are remodeling to change that aspect. Front-facing rooms have beautiful views of the glaciers and it is off the main road for a peaceful sleep. The dining room dates back to 1777. Truly charming.
