My husband and I just returned from a four-night stay at the Staybridge Suites San Antonio Airport, July 17-20, 2008. We had stayed here with our two daughters in a two-bedroom, two-bath suite when the hotel was new, in 2002, and loved it then. This time, we booked the same type of suite, thinking our daughters would again join us, but they ended up backing out, so the two of us shared the large two-bedroom suite, which has a king bed in one bedroom and two queen beds in the other, a configuration that most suite hotels don't have. You could fit an army in that suite if you had to, and everyone would be comfortable sleeping. It also has a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, so there's plenty of room to store beverages and snacks, or to prepare hot food in the microwave or oven.
I was as satisfied this trip as I was six years ago with the cleanliness of the lobby and individual rooms, the free hot breakfast served every day, the pool area and hot tub, the security of the parking lot (gated and accessed using your room key and now watched over by 24-hour security cameras instead of a guard only at night), the free guest laundry center, and the friendliness of the staff. The hot breakfast is a highlight every morning. Although it doesn't vary much from day to day, it contains a variety of both hot (make your own waffles, and scrambled eggs and a breakfast meat) and cold foods(fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, yogurts, juices), and even has skim milk as well as whole and low fat. It is as well stocked at the end of the breakfast period as it is at the beginning, which was impressive.
Although the hotel is located literally only 5 minutes from the airport and appeared to be almost completely sold out every night we were there, it was very quiet. We never heard hallway noise from guests while we were trying to sleep or planes taking off. There's little to no noise between rooms. Although designed for the business traveler and long-term guests, it seemed like on this visit we saw mostly families, many from Mexico, staying here for a night or two on their way to somewhere else. Everyone was very respectful of each other and in control of their children.
The wireless Internet service worked flawlessly, with no interruptions in service. Maid service was top notch, although you have to call the front desk by 5pm on Friday if you want maid service on the weekends. We both used the fitness center, which shares space with the guest laundry center. Both are accessible 24 hours a day. The fitness room is very warm and humid, but there is water and towels available. For equipment, it has two True residential treadmills, two stair climbing machines, and two bikes. There is a TV with cable and local channels for entertainment. The fitness center was rarely used, so we never had to wait for a treadmill.
The other nice thing about this hotel is it is located next door to two decent restaurants and is only a half-mile from North Star Mall, which is an older mall that has recently had an incredible resurgence. It's been remodeled and several upscale stores have been added to it. It has a Cheesecake Factory restaurant, as well a food court upstairs. The mall was so packed the day I went shopping there, it looked like it was two days before Christmas instead of late July!
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, especially for families with kids. It's only a 15 minute drive from this hotel to the RiverWalk area downtown, and it's a lot quieter than staying downtown, which has drunken revelers stumbling down the streets every night of the week until the wee hours of the morning. It's closer to both Sea World and Fiesta Texas (a Six Flags theme park) than downtown is. We've found it to be a nice, centralized location and we'll definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for seven nights, and totally loved the place.
Location: Was good. Very near the airport, within walking distance of good restaurants, and within walking distance of the North Star Mall. It's on the north end of town, with access to all the major highways. Unfortunately there is LOTS of construction around many of the highways in San Antonio, which made it slow to get around sometimes.
Price: We paid $109 per night. I think that's because we stayed for 7 nights. Totally worth the price.
Rooms: Very nice. We had the one bedroom, one bathroom, separate living room and fully stocked kitchen. We could not have asked for anything else. Bedding was very nice and comfy. It was great to have the living room, especially when staying for a week, so that you don't have to sit on your bed all the time.
Breakfast: Yummy. They had a good selection of hot and cold food. Including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. They also have food/drinks around supper-time, but we were never in the hotel to try that out.
Pool: It's on the roof of the 3rd floor. It overlooks the highway, but you don't really notice. There is a hot tub, plus large pool, lots of chairs and tables, plus two BBQs.
Business Center: Includes computers you can use, plus printer and FAX machine. They think of everything.
Laundry: Free laundry (four washers, four dryers). That was a very nice bonus. It's right next to the fitness center, so you can do your laundry while working out.
Parking: Lots of parking, behind gates, so it felt very secure.
There was nothing that I would change about the hotel, and I will definitely come back again.

Very elegant hotel yet affordable. Pet friendly. Family friendly. Free wireless access in your room. Complimentary buffet type breakfast each morning and light dinner meals on various weeknights with complimentary drinks as well! Bicycle workout room, laundry room, pleasant staff. They had just redecorated the hotel when we stayed there; new mattresses/comforters, posh! Basically a tiny apartment is your suite, was comfy for family of 3 and 1 big dog for almost a month while inbetween places! Swimming pool with hot tub is located on the roof with unlimited clean pool towels! There are 2 wonderful restaurants on either side of hotel you can walk to, one is canjun food and the other is a steakhouse. You can also walk to the mall! Nearby driving distance to airport and rental car locations. The only downside was that they do or did at the time allow certain rooms to be smoking. We requested a NON SMOKING floor and room and yet there were inconsiderate smokers in a room next door to us breaking the no smoking room policy which put a damper for a couple nights as unfortunately we could smell the ciggerette smoke. Overall I would stay there again and highly reccommend it.

This was an easy choice for the money as I had to catch a very early flght the next day. My room was large, king bed, living area and really a full kitchen. A couple of issues were that the AC did not seem large enough to cover the entire room and it was a bit warm. Also, kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and other items but not a fork, spoon or knife - so when I came in from my carry out, nothing to eat with. The hotel was clean and quiet and the staff was very friendly, especially housekeepping which I tipped gererously.
