Glad someone else was paying for it

Went to Clearwater on a business trip and brought family along. The hotel served its purpose, with a clean, large room, nice pool (although you had to go through front lobby to get to it), and expected room amenities. Bathroom was very large, but very little towel hanging space (especially with 5 people staying in the room). The desk space was spacious with unique plug-in access for laptop, phone chargers, etc. Wi-fi coverage was good. On the down-side, not sure why higher priced hotels only offer higher priced breakfasts ($9 for two eggs, sausage, and toast before tax and tip) in their restaurant. This one reason would be why we wouldn't have stayed here unless the company was paying for it.

I knew it was a a bad sign when I called the hotel for directions and no one picked up the phone. Twice. Arrived at the hotel after getting lost (wrong directions!) and was greeted by stony faced staff who seemed to have been trained by the DMV. The hotel had emailed me a check -in on -line form and when I stood at the appropriate counter I was ignored until one employee grunted to the other employee that "they didn't seem to be doing that anymore." So checked in the old fashioned way by an employee who apppeared to be literally sleeping on the job and resented the interuption.
Room was okay- except missing the much advertised sleep number beds. Called downstairs to ask and was told that sleep number beds cost extra. Hmmm, that is not mentioned in any of their advertising.
Room service does not begin until 7am which is strangely late for a business hotel. Was very lucky that I got my breakfast at all because their computers had gone down and hundreds of other guests got nothing. Unfortunately, for them the breakfast they waited vainly for was barely worth it. Simple scrambled eggs and bacon was worse than cafeteria food.
Left the hotel for the day and was pleased to find the room cleaned. We had the evidence because their were bunches of long hairs left of the beds as if one of the maids had been shedding on it. Yuck.
Being exhuasted, made rash decision to eat in hotel restaurant which was fine until a COCKROACH decided to join our dinner. Waiters came out with a cup and paper to scoop away our horrifying guest and the F & B manager swiftly came over to apologize. She took note of all of our complaints and seemed genuinely apologetic. Unfortunately more was to come.
We tried to buy laundry detergernt in the hotel, and the machine ate the money. We had to go to four floors before finding a vending machine that still stocked water. Had to call over another highly unenthusiastic front desk employee to help us print out our boarding tickets because first printer lacked paper and the second printer was broken. This two minute transaction took 20 minutes to complete.
The rumor is that this hotel is going to be sold to another chain so maybe they are running it into the ground to lower the price. Stay at the Hilton in the business park across the street. In fact, stay anywhere else. It has to be better than this.

Stayed two nights for a wedding, got the very low rate of $92 a night before tax. Room was good sized and clean. Had free internet hook up. Gym on the 2nd floor was being renovated so they moved it up to a room on the 9th floor. It was pretty decent for a hotel gym, had dumbells up to 45lbs. Hotel is just off I-275. There are a bunch of restaurants and fast food places just around the bend. No free breakfast, restaurant was overpriced. They charge an extra $3 a night on your bill for parking, have no clue why. Overall, was a nice place to stay, would do so again.

Friday 1/25 - Sunday 1/27: My husband attended a conference at the Radisson and I decided to tag along to escape the cold Jersey winter.
We stayed on the 5th floor and our room was very clean and spacious. Ample dresser/closet space, very comfortable "sleep number" bed (although I never found the remote for the bed), roomy desk area for laptop hook-up. The bathroom was updated, if a little small. The only negative: no balcony and the windows didn't open, so I felt a little trapped.
Ordered room service one night - it was $40 for a cheeseburger platter, grouper sandwich platter, two sodas...but fairly typical for hotel prices. The grouper sandwich was phenomenal though!
Went to dinner at nearby Bascom's Chop House - the quality was right up there with any Ruth Chris or Smith & Wollensky. Approx $100 for shrimp appetizer, two filets, two side dishes, one soda, two glasses of wine. Waitstaff was well-educated and pleasant.
