We thought booking a Ramada Hotel would ensure a certain level of quality. Unfortunately, the hotel is tired and you feel as though the last refurb was in the 80s, white painted fake panelling in the rooms, stick on wall paper borders around the wall/ceiling, poor extract from the bathrooms, resulting in high temperatures generated from the lighting, although cooling unit is in the room you open the doors to the balcony and see the external air conditioning unit on the bacony floor, whiring away. We were booked in for 3 nights at 280CHF per night, we found a much nicer hotel for 180CHF, admittedly with no cooling but with a pool and included breakfast. We stayed there for the remaining two nights. The only good points were the staff were friendly and the entire hotel seemed to have new carpet.

We had reservations at another local hotel but the weather was very hot and the hotel that we booked had no A/C. My wife is sensitive to the heat and was very uncomfortable.
So I walked down the street and into the Hotel Treff Palma au Lac and booked a room on the forth floor with A/C and balcony over looking the lake (breakfast included) for about $200/ night. The manager and staff were terrific and very helpful in every way. The Hotels location and services far exceeded our expectations. (on the lake in Muralto, free parking, and in walking distance to everything-train station-shops-restaurants). We loved the hotel and would return again with out hesitation. They are planning to recondition addition rooms and the lobby this winter. Apparently we had one of the already reconditioned rooms because we thought it was perfect. We give it an excellent rating.
