Suitable only for overnighting in city before flying - vastly overpriced

I have to agree with the majority of negative reviews of this hotel. I stayed here one night in May with my friends in other rooms.
I am not sure what qualifies as a 4 star hotel, but suspect it would be significantly different from what the Dan Hotel consider it to be. Let's be honest, the rooms are ok if a bit small. But they are simply travelodge style rooms, not super luxury. On initial inspection from the outside you feel this hotel might be a converted council flat block, taking advantage of its location close to the airport. However, on the staircase between the first floor and ground I found a collection of framed old newspaper articles about the hotel - it dates back to 1964. Whilst it has obviously been redecorated since then it simply does not have the room to be a 4 * hotel.
I paid 1695 DKK for a sole occupancy double room. That is about ?180 for a single night and doesn't even include breakfast. For this they want another 95DKK or about ?10. No one actually checks if you have paid at breakfast so I suspect I was subsidising those who had "forgot to pay". The breakfast was terrible, self-service, the sort where you make a cup of tea by putting the bag in the cup yourself and adding water. The bacon was heaped up and looked like leftovers from another hotel. I was shocked that the hotel charged another customer paying ?180 for a room an extra 15DKK (?2) on checkking out when he admitted he had not had breakfast but had taken a cup of coffee (no facilities in your breakfast). This hotel is all about extracting the maximum money from airport overnighters. There is absolutely no reason to stay here for anymore than one day. You would feel seriously ripped off if you did.
The bed was comfortable although they had put a single size duvet on the bed to stop me sharing it !
Do not pay to park in the hotel car park (at the north end of the block). This is ?8 per night. Just do as I did and park in the FREE residential car park at the south end of the block. My new hire car was perfectly safe there.
The hotel is near to the metro station Kastrup, about 600metres or 4 mins walk. The airport is the next stop and literally takes 30 seconds on the train. A ticket will cost you about 30DKK or ?3. You might just want to walk from the hotel. You can see the terminal from the front of the hotel. It's about 1200m. If you take the metro the other way into Copenhagen it takes about 15 minutes.
In conclusion, ok if you really can't get anywhere else near the airport for a single night and your company is paying the bill. Otherwise, avoid and stay in the city centre.

If you want a cheap hotel - then this is it - trouble is it's not cheap - it just looks, feels and smells cheap. Rooms tatty and not very clean - long overdue a refit.
Staff are nice and helpful - they almost make up for the awful rooms.
Food is OK.
Don't get a taxi - walk it - it's only 15 mins walk from the airport and the taxi drivers don't like taking you such a short distance anyway.
Persoanlly I'd stay somewhere else next time, maybe Sweden (both the hotels I tried in Copenhagen had small, tatty, dirty rooms).
You certainly don't get much for your money in Denmark - the room was worth no more than ?45 - so why did it cost me 3 times that much?

The Quality Dan is a great place to stay if you need to be near the airport or need good access to the city centre, either way its good. Its literally the first metro stop and just round the corner from the station (Kastrup) and its very clean and tidy inside also. They have free internet access, free fitness suite to use and they have a nice cozy bar with tv. There is many shops around the area too in case you need to grab a snack or two. The room is fairly basic, which you would expect, but it is very clean and the bathroom is nice and clean also. The view out of our room was not the best, but that doesnt really matter and I doubt it could be much better since its so far away from the city centre.
To get into the centre, you just need to hop on the train and you are there in 5 stops and the metro comes every 4 minutes.
I would recommend this hotel to most people.

This hotel is a brilliant place to stay. It's litterly 5 mins from the airport. We used the Metro and it's the next station then a short walk round the corner. Ideal for tourists as you can dump your bags quickly and then jump back onto the metro and be in the centre of Copenhagen within 20 minutes. The hotel itself is well furnished with a nice bar and free internet access which was a blessing. The neighbourhood is lovely and clean with restraunts, supermarkets and bars. The rooms were spacious with a full mini bar an comfertable beds. Only problem was that there was an unbarable smell of raw sewage from the bathroom at certain times of the day or night and secondly we ordered room service breakfast as we were in a rush to get to the airport. which failed to arrive. Overall, the setting and quality of the rooms alone are enough to make me return and easily recomend this hotel to tourists!
