After an absolutely horrid stay at the Hotel Marina in Delhi, we went on to Agra (Holiday Inn) and Jaipur (Park Plaza). Of the three hotels, Park Plaza was probably the most satisfying experience overall. Starting with the friendly doormen (who didn't have their hands out for tips and were genuinely helpful and nice even when I didn't have 10 rupees ready), through the efficient check-in, to the very clean room with coffee maker and complimentary water, I was very pleased with my experience. My room was immaculate (it even appeared that the houseboy cleans under the beds and behind the furniture!), and well appointed, with soothing decor and granite bathroom. There was no mold in the bathroom and the entire room smelled fresh (even though it had been designated as a smoking room). There were ample television stations, including HBO and other English-language stations. The hotel is on a main road, but a ways from the center, so there is not a constant cacophony of horns and hawker cries from the street below -- the room was the quietest that we'd had since arriving. Breakfast was a delight, with a bright, clean dining room and quietly efficient staff. The food at the buffet was changed out often, which is the sign of a decent chef and trained floor staff. The coffee was terrific. (Only minus was that there was no non-smoking area, and breakfast for everyone was spoiled by one heavy smoking Japanese tourist.) In fact, the management was much more professional, solicitous, and friendly than any of the hotels. Upon checkout, I found out that the water bottles in the refrigerator were actually part of the minibar (even though they were the same type as those water bottles that were out on the desk and had "Complimentary" tags on them. The check-out manager smiled and told me not to worry about paying for my minibar use, that he'd ask the houseboy to simply rotate the bottles (I only used those in the fridge) so that I wouldn't have to pay. That attitude, after days of negative experiences, was so refreshing I nearly cried. The drawback, if you're on foot, is that the hotel was far from many of the tourist attractions (you could walk to the green areas by the cricket stadium and there was a lovely park nearby). However, for 40 rupees, you are on your way in a three-wheeler to the town center and the wind palace less than 5 minutes away.

It is the best ever mid-market hotel i have ever stayed at. The staff at the hotel is extreamly friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The Rooftop restaurant is simply outstanding so as the pub. Overall a great stay with clean and comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast and good food. What else anyone can ask for a mid-market business hotel.

my wife and I were on a ten day Golden Triangle tour (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) and stayed in truly magnificent places in Delhi and Agra...were told the same caliber weren't available in Jaipur and we were put into Park Plaza...not a BAD place, but definitely not up to standards of other very nice places. Location is downtown, with traffic noise, and virtually no grounds. rooms were large and clean, but had very limited amenities (no 110 plugs, despite adverts that they did). meals were good, inclulding breakfast buffet, but nothing over the top. Not sure what the price was (since we paid for whole tour, not piece by piece). if you can get the Park Plaza for a good price, I wouldn't turn it down, but don't expect luxury...in fact, don't expect anything beyond a nice Holiday Inn.

Kicked me out of my room!

I recently stayed at the Park Plaza in Jaipur while on business. All went well the first 4 days--good, attentive staff, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast. However, when I returned from my office on the evening for my 4th day my luggage had been packed up and was waiting for me in the lobby. I was told that I had not reserved for the 5th day. When I produced my reservations which clearly showed they were mistaken, they apologized but told me they had already let my room. They did offer to find me other accommodations, but this does not change the fact that, despite their acknowledgment that it was their mistake, they still kicked me out. I will never stay here again, and would caution anyone against trusting the Park Plaza as a reliable place to stay.
