"I was pleasently suprised by this hotel, it was the last hotel I called for a room, it should have been the first. I was given a room with a view of the river, which is a rare quality in modern day hotels, the room was nothing to write home about but very adequate, had everything I needed and most importantly..."

I was very suprised when i arrived at the hotel, as after reading a review on trip advisor i had concerns about what we had booked. My partner and myself were pleasantly greeted by chrissie on reception who gave us a warn welcome and quick registration. The hotels lobby is vibrantly decorated with a groovey 70's dated carpet. Our double bedroom was clean and fresh. The bedroom decor was the only thing that we had fault with, it was tired and in need of refusrbishment, however i suppose you get what you pay for. The buffet breakfast in the morning was nice and hot, and a varied selection. our stay at the hotel was overall good and i am sure that if the hotel became refurbished it will be better. All the staff were great (thanks chrissie for my birthday wishes in the morning, i had a great day) we hope to see them again soon in November.

Me and my friend booked this hotel for location and for the facilities the hotel offered. When we arrived at the hotel and tried to park in the car park, which was full due to wedding and birthday party in the hotel so we had to park in the adjacent car park - which was not secure and had a big container where workmen walked in and out of all day. When we checked in we was handed a form to fill in, receptionist was rude and unhelpful. The first room we was given was on a smoking floor, we switched rooms and was given another room which was awful. Plastic in plug sockets so you couldn’t use them. No wardrobe, no safe. Windows were dirty, wallpaper falling off the walls. Breakfast was not much to be desired either - so still to fruit, cereal or toast! Only stay in the hotel if you upgrade your room, but if you are going to spend that much money on a 3 star (more like a 1) then stay somewhere else.

Poor Reception...Improving Hotel

My Wife and myself booked in to the Park Inn Bedford on a "weekend special" which included B&B for two nights with Dinner on the first night at ?142 for the weekend, we thought this very good value....until we checked out, we were told that dinner was to the value of ?16.50 each and anything over that amount was charged as an extra, no problem normally, except we believe we should have either been informed as part of the booking process via the hotels web site or by the hotels reception, alas this did not happen. The hotel looks rather shabby from the outside, however it is clear the inside has been subject to extensive inprovement, new upvc D-G windows & doors (a must on the 8th floor on a very stormy weekend), new carpets throughout and some redecoration. The breakfast room staff were very polite and helpfull and the food was varied and of a good standard, however the food at "dinner" was not so good. We could have paid the extra charged by Park Inn and stayed at the Hilton in M K....

Had the pleasure of staying at the Park Inn bedford, early May. Allocated a business room, which was more like a suite. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Apart from the traditional menu, they were showing a black-board with the title of 'Fresh Market Produce' I had Monkfish wrapped in Parma Ham with King size prawns served on a bed of capered mash potatoes. The food was out of this world. All credit to a very innovative chef and hotel management

We stayed at the Park Inn for a Sunday night to attend a function in Bedford on the Monday and were pleasantly surprised, given some of the reviews I had read. The room was very spacious - certainly bigger than ones I have paid double for - although the decor is indeed tired. Everything was clean and there were plenty of towels and (albeit not mentioned on the website) a hairdryer was provided. The view over the river (6th floor) was lovely and the hotel is certainly convenient for the town centre, but the aged double glazing couldn't cope with the high winds and there was a dreadful howling whenever the breeze got up which led to a not-so-peaceful night. It does look as though some of the windows are being replaced - perhaps we were just unlucky? The breakfast was extremely good (included in my rate - use a discount website, don't book direct) and the evening menu for the restaurant looked fantastic, but we didn't get to try it, because although the receptionist had booked us a table when we arrived, after having hung around there for 10 minutes my husband stuck his head round the kitchen door, to be told the restaurant was not actually open that night! Don't know if this was a one-off or the usual for Sundays, but the receptionist had not been told and apologised profusely. Other than this, the staff were helpful and friendly. All in all, good value for money, if you're not too concerned about floral tiles and psychedelic carpet in the public areas. Very convenient, secure car parking, shame about the double glazing.
