Old and lots of cigarette smoke inside

We adopted a baby from Jiangxi China and did not have a choice in the hotel we stayed at. Our time there was for 5 days and the cigarette smoking was awful for someone who is allergic to cigarette smoke. I got no warning whatsoever so I was miserable.
The rooms are old but okay. The service there was nice and the people were friendly and the food okay. I had just a very difficult time since they do not distinguish between smoking and non smoking like they do here in California.
We also asked to be moved and ended up with more guests that smoked in our non smoking vacinity. We complained but there was nothing they could do rid of of the smoke. Our agency said the booked us a non-smoking room but that was just words.
If cigarette smoking does not bother then stayimg at the Gloria Plaza is fine.

We spent about 6 days here. It was very easy! Beds were extremely hard
but linen was beautiful and clean. Rooms serviced daily. Chinese food in restaurant was good to my western palate, plenty of Chinese customers too, smoking allowed while dining as per many Chinese establishments which i found uncomfortable.
Coffee just awful, take your own. English spoken but some difficulty at times, communication tricky with porters and service ladies. Staff seem sad, they work very hard. We gave our maid a tip and she eburst into tears...not sure this was a good response or not.
Laundry facilty is first class but expensive, use tiffanys over the road.
easy to get into the city, Teng wang Pavillion close by. Great views from the swimming pool and fish market worth an early morning stroll nearby.
All in all, a very easy place to be, but certainly far from 5 stars.

This is where business travelers and adopting families stay in Nanchang. Great hotel in a city with very few nice hotels. As with anything in China that is local, there were quirks, but overall a good experience. The buffet is very nice with local and western cuisine. Also, right across the street, there is a foot massage parlor that gives incredible foot massages. Steer clear of the massage service in the hotel!

Good location across the street from historic pagoda; lots of shops on the streets. Near the walking mall.
Regular rooms were much too small for family of four. We upgraded to a suite which was expensive but VERY nice (over 1500 per week!) Hotel pool was indoor and clean. Staff was very pleasant & helpful. Most spoke some English which was very nice! Hotel food was adequate (breakfast was the best, lunch was horrible & dinner was adequate). Buffet had mix of asian & western foods. Overall a pleasant experience.

We stayed at the Gloria Hotel in Nanchang July 29 - August 3. From the outside it looked pretty modern and the hotel lobby was nicely decorated. However, the rooms on Floor 13 (Ladies Floor) were quite rundown and dirty. It's supposed to be a non-smoking floor (thus the name Ladies Floor) but the smell of cigarettes were everywhere (likely from the lower floors). There were roaches in the bathroom and the carpets were badly stained. Tiny flies, dead, were on the window mantle. We were told that this was considered a 5 star hotel in Nanchang. I'd personally give it 2 stars.
On the plus side though, they provided a stroller and baby bathtub for us (we were staying there to pick up our daughter for an adoption). Location was good as you could walk to the pedestrian shopping areas.
Overall, the interior rooms are in need of major renovation. Maybe at the higher floors they may be better but definitely avoid floor 13 as they were all pretty much in the same rundown shape.
