Good hotel in lousy town

Slept one night in this hotel on arrival from Amsterdam (and before starting our tour to the King Cities).
Great rooms, spacious, proper desk for working (although we didn't need that) and no noise when window closed. (Loads of traffic noise when open: but good isolated).
Ideal to stroll around the neighbourhood. 24 hours 'Cafe de France' around the corner (for coffee etc).
More a business hotel than rourists; but after a day travel nice to crasg down in good beds.

Attended conference at hotel. Older premises, well maintained. Found it expensive for what you got. The rooms may be comparable to other places but internet access is 300 drh per day (app 30 euro/45 USD) which is ludicrous. Meals are also not reasonably priced. Breakfast at 240 drh is overpriced.
One good thing was the gym, well equipped but underused.
Warning, check your bills when you leave, especially bar and mini bar as there were several "errors".
If you have meetings there a good alternate located a block away is the IBIS (budget) and Novotels.

I booked my one night stay via the Starwood website, where I got what I would say an okay price for Le Meridien (not great). Anyway, the hotel is an older property, but very well maintained. The check in process was great as the hotel staff was extremely curtious and guided me to all the points that I needed in Casablanca. They even opened up the business center for me (eventhough it was closed for the evening) just so that I could use the internet (which was a bit expensive for just a two hour internet access card).
The room was on the seventh floor (Starwood Preferred Guest floor). It was spacious with a huge king size bed which was very comfortable. A large flat screen television and work desk were great. Plenty of channels on the television so you can't get bored. The room was clean and the white sheets on the best always make me feel good. The bathroom was a tad small and dated, but clean and usable (it was the first time I had ever seen rose petals in the toilet).
The hotel is extremely close to the old city and most of the sights in Casa. I would most likely return to this hotel if I was coming back to Casa.

Agree with the previous review that it is a mixed bag.
On the positive side, it is an older hotel with elegant, traditional Moroccan motif.
But for 5* hotel it is a bit shabby and not all the equipment works fine. The toilets, as mentioned by other reviews don't flash properly, the safe did not work properly either and generally the place is run down.
The room (a "superior single") was spacious, clean, but run down for 5 star hotel, especially considering that the hotel is not cheap at all.
I agree that public areas are very pretty and well maintained
I was running seminar (Presenter), so can advise that they do have quite good conference facilities. The room was specious and well conditioned. But was not happy with the lunch provided to the delegates, the food was average/below average and instead of a buffet, sit down was served, with no choice whatsover.
The waiters were very slow and the whole thing took ages.
In general the food in the International restaurant of the Hotel was not good at all, I would say below average. The seafood was not fresh. Do not recommend eating here. Did not try the maroccan place though.
I would give this hotel more of 4* rating, than 5.
