"Everything about this hotel was fantastic - just as other reviewers have said. However whilst I was in the hotel grounds I was bitten by a cat and susequently discovered that this is a high risk rabies area. I obtained the right treatment but it has been a complicated and upsetting business. Please..."

This is our third stay at The Al Aqah although our 1st with our 13 year old daughter. This hotel gets better and better. Standards of service are consistantly high and the food is excellent in all the outlets, particularly in Taste, the Thai restaurant. The animation team kept our 13 year old amused at all times. Diving also excellent. Can definitely recommend, you will not be disapointed.

Everything everyone has said is true. A fantastic hotel with outstanding service and veeeeery relaxing. A few hints for the prospective visitor: June, July and August get progressively hotter the locals say. I'm glad we went in June. Dont' believe the transfer time - some of the brochures tell you it's 40 minutes. It's actually 2 hours. Think twice about going on the Friday Dubai trip, everything is closed.... they should leave it until later in the day. The town of Fujeira advertises itself with the slogan "more to it than you might think".... nope, 'fraid not! The desert safari was a bit of a tourist trap but if you can afford it and you don't mind some mundane dune driving cracked up to be some 4X4 "adventure", a pleasant distraction from high humidity to the dry heat of the desert and a good opportunity to get some arty snaps. The Big Bus tour offers good value if you do go to Dubai and, unless you share a passion for the national passtime of shopping, can be achieved in a day. Watch for loads of tiny sticky oil deposits on the hotel beach which slopes very steeply into deep water but is diligently lifeguarded. Food in the views restaurant good value (buffet eat what you like) but not great quality. AVOID the seafood restaurant outdoors, quality is poor, over priced and unpleasant ambiance (heat mainly). We didn't try the Thai or Indian. EVERYTHING else including rooms, reception and spa was first class thanks mainly to excellent staff.

We booked our trip quite late through ba.com - flights, transfer and hotel all in one place and easy to do over the internet. Flew into Dubai and easily found transfer. We had opted for the basic transfer and were really happy to see a brand new luxury Lexus waiting to take us to Le Meridien. Transfer took 1.5hrs travelling at high speed! Hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. I think we had a basic hotel room which was fantastic! Huge room, all the trimmings and a monster bathroom. Facilities were really good. A good gym, huge pool with loads of life guards (very safe for kids). Food options were extensive. A great Thai restaurant, also an Indian as well as an outside venue and the HUGE Views restaurant. Cost of food was very good although booze was quite pricey. If you want a great place to chill and do nothing for a few days this is the one. We didn't leave the grounds for the whole 4 days / 5 nights we were there. Good job because there is nothing else around for you to do. In summary, a really great hotel and one we'd recommend over and over again.

My wife and I were celebrating my 50th birthday. The hotel couldn't do enough for us. The Meridien Al Aqah is a great place with lots to do. Our room was very large and lavish with a fantastic bathroom. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.
