This beautifull Hotel with it's marveleous overlooking vieuw is the best way of having a splendid holiday. And with all her luxuary inside and on all rooms, the finest food and the friendly and helpfull staff makes you never want to leave it..Therefore we choose several years to come back to this lovely Hotel.
Once falling in love, you want to be back at least once a year! And every year we're surprised again because of new refinements the owner and his wife makes, all selected with fine taste, and the personal touch of the owneres.
So this Hotel I would recommended to everyone who want to have a realy fantastic dream-holiday.

Stayed recently for 5 nights; large & comfortable room with excellent food and good service from all hotel staff.
The pool area is too small for the size of hotel (this can only get worse as some rooms are being refurbished and were not occupied) and is situated next to a noisy main road - made worse by the noise coming from the refurbishment/building works.
The main dining room was also taken over for a wedding during our stay leaving hotel guests dining in a conference room with too few waiters.Maid service to the rooms was also unacceptably inconsistent for a 5* hotel (again under-staffing?).
In conclusion I'd recommend staying at one of the more conveniently located 4* hotels in the centre of Stresa.

I truly wanted to like this hotel. We stayed for four nights. I wanted to leave after the first night. Granted, the views from the Villa Aminta's public spaces were incredible. The decor was over the top, unpleasantly so. I wanted a view of the Borromeo Islands and my wish was fulfilled. The drive from Locarno back to Stresa via Verbania was absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was good, as it should have been for the price.
When we walked into the lobby that first afternoon, I noticed that the carpets needed thorough cleaning. The reception was nice enough, yet almost every front desk employee seemed terminally distracted. Our traveling companion, a single woman, was given a room across from the elevator with the "garden view" and she was extremely disappointed. She rightfully complained, and was given another room which was only minimally better. Our room was poorly laid out and uncomfortable, the walls stark, the bed exceedingly hard, and the bathroom minimally clean.
Each morning as I took the stairs down to breakfast, I noted the same dead cockroaches on the marble stairs which were never cleaned up.
Each morning I noted guests at the front desk with complaints about their room, charges, poor quality service, the non-existent garden view , etc. The level of disorganization was obvious.
By day two I realized that the staff did not have either the training or the authorization to do anything to assist guests. In order to avoid any dialogue with guests, management would never speak to guests directly - they preferred to issue orders to the guests via the staff. It was an odd situation that I witnessed, and, a couple of times I was involved. I fully understand that European management is different from that in the U.S. Yet, the interactions I witnessed left everyone feeling uncomfortable and the guests less than welcome.
Villa Aminta could be so much better ....

We have just stayed for a week in a junior suite. The accomodation was very comfortable and the room and hotel had the most wonderful views of the lake. The restaurant and bar staff were excellent and looked after us well.
However the hotel does not provide a 5 star experience. The facilities are extremely limited, the swimming pool is small, there is no pool shower and little pool service. The hotel is situated out of town and there is a very limited shuttle service. There is little in the way of any helpful concierge service and the feeling is that you have to sort things out for yourselves.Maid cleaning service was perfunctory at best, our lovely terrace was not swept throughout our stay.
Worst of all was that we felt like second class citizens. On three occassions we were told that we were to use an upstairs room for dinner as they were having either a wedding or a private party in their dining room. The hotel sells itself on its beautiful dining rooms and in our case insisted on half board terms. As mentioned in earlier reviews it seems the hotel values its wedding and party guests more than its residents. When we complained a male receptionist made the comment " what do you expect if you are on a Citalia package?" At nearly ?4000 for a week considerably better.

Myself and new husband decided to stay here for our honeymoon just recently - after having our wedding down in tuscany we needed a quiet tranquil place to relax for the week
We booked the honeymoon package which was EUR1426 for 4 nights b&b in a standard garden view room.
On arrival at the hotel we were told we had been upgraded to a junior suite which we were delighted with. We were told that the nightly rate of our upgraded room was EUR550.00 a night so since we had paid 350 a night we were very happy with this. we were shown to our room - and after having a look around the room was sooo disspointing. Firstly - it was supposed to be a junior suite , but extremely small and compact. With two suitcases open in the bedroom there was barely any walking space left , we had a terrace/ balcony which we ended up having to keep some luggage on as the room was so small ! We were also in the new wing of the hotel , and the furnishings were still not finished , wires/ cables hanging out of the wall, there was no cover over the air conditioning unit , and the bath was lethal getting in and out of as it was a marble ledge so when wet it was very dangerous.
We did see some of the rooms facing onto the lake which seem to be much better in size and quality - but since the garden view room / junior suite was 550 a night and that was a box room i cant imagine how much they would be.
Overall a very dissapointing stay - and certainly not worth the money at all.
