This former palace is lovely , the gardens and grounds were beauifully maintained , what a shame the rooms aren't equally looked after. When we arrived in our room we were instantly disappointed especailly with the bathroom it was just aweful very dated and in need of total replacement .We spoke with the duty manager who said we could not move as the hotel was full and that all the rooms were going to undergo refurbishment.
On our first night we went on the hotel tour (good for history of the palace) then for dinner in the main restaurant ,( The restarant has the most amazing decor) but again disappointment, I had to send my chicken dish back as had bone and grissle in it , the restaurant manager and chief both coming out to speak to me, offering a new free meals which i declined , so offered free drinks and desert.
The following night we eat at the restaurant on the lawn which was excellent , the atmosphere is more relaxed and food lovely.
On check out we expressed our concerns again to management regarding both the rooms and the food at the main restaurant but they were clearly not interested, this is such a shame as the palace could be truely amazing if these problems were sorted .
Overall if you stay here make sure you book a room that has been refurbished as the rooms are not cheap and you dont want to feel cheated out of what could have been an amazing experience.

The Rambagh Palace is a wonderful, elegant property, a true oasis of calm & refinement in the midst of crazy Jaipur. We unfortunately only stayed there for 1 night, but even for one day all the staff seemed to know our name & made sure our stay was really special. The room & bathroom were lovely & full of wonderful local artefacts & detail, whilst fitted with all the mod cons that one would expect. The spa is gorgeus as is the pool & the gardens are amongst the most beautiful we saw in Rajhastan. The dining room which houses the Indian resturant is spectacular and the food was excellent.
We loved staying at the Rambagh & would love to return there some day soon.

Do yourself a favor and stay here. The rooms and public spaces are lovely. From the manager on down to the cleaning personnel the service is outstanding, warm, individualized, and professional. The food is excellent. It can't get any better.

This experience is one of those experiences you tell everyone is not possible to explain in words. It must be individually experienced to understand.
This is a real palace...functioning as a real palace until the late 1950's. It still has the feel of a palace, even if it has become a little commercialized. As we understood, the original royal family still owns the property and seeks to cover their ownership costs by licensing it to a hotel management company. This provides for a situation that is both the positive and the negative. Obvious care is taken to truly care about the property...everything is well maintained and manicured. But, it also means many available corners are generating revenue, including shops in the hotel and garages converted to tourist offices, etc.
The staff is among the best of any hotels we have ever stayed in...
obviously long time veterans of this hotel who have not lost any of their desire to serve the guests in the most attentive manner possible.
We often stay in other five star properties, including Aman properties and Four Seasons. We were suitably pleased that this hotel cost less, but in our opinion, was a superior experience to the better hotels/resorts world wide.
And, to make it even better, Jaipur was the highlight of our India trip...the most interesting sights are nearby.
