Si tratta di un boutique Hotel in un'ottima posizione. Era molto piccolo, così come anche la camera stessa era piccola. Era elegante e sembrava avesse bisogno di qualche rinnovo. La colazione era molto cara e allora abbiamo scelto di mangiare qualcosa fuori nella città. Ci siamo fermati solo una notte prima di arrivare a Lucerna. Era pulito e lo staff era gentile.

Dies ist ein Boutique Hotel in toller Lage. Es ist sehr klein und das Zimmer war auch sehr klein. Es war charmant aber müßte mal renoviert werden. Das Frühstück war sehr teuer und wir aßen lieber auswärts. Wir haben vor der Weiterfahrt nach Lucerne hier nur eine Nacht verbracht. Es war sauber und die Angestellten waren nett.

It was a boutique Hotel in a great location. It was very small and the room was very small. It was charmining but it did need some updating. The breakfast was very expensive and we chose to eat somewhere else in town. We only stayed 1 night before we went to Lucerne. It was clean and the staff was nice.

I stayed here 2 nights this October. From the moment I walked in, I was pleased. Note, that the street out front is under major construction so, if you plan to stay here soon, be sure to take a room in the back of the hotel. I was disappointed about the construction, but that's not the fault of the hotel and would in fact impact anyone staying in Bern, as the old town is quite small and it would be impossible to avoid at this time. The hotel itself was nicely decorated with quality furnishings. It is clean. The bar in the lobby is a lot of fun. The staff, including the owners who are on the property all of the time, are very friendly. I was traveling single, and with my small dog and everyone greeted her by name every time we came in. The staff gave me excellent recommendations for local restaurants. The bathroom was well appointed, with quality toiletries. The sheets, pillows and duvet were excellent quality. My bed was huge, even though I was a single. The room was a good size and there was plenty of light (room 33, I think). Note -- there is no english language TV, not even CNN. The breakfast was good (but probably not worth the extra $$). I had dinner in the hotel one night, which was excellent. This hotel seems like a good choice for a couple or a business traveler. I noticed a few business travelers on the second night and I could tell that the staff was assisting them with things while they ate in the restaurant. It certainly was great for me as a single holiday traveler. Finally, the location (notwithstanding the current construction) is great. Close to the river, the "bears" -- then again, anywhere you stay in the old town is very, very close b/c Bern is T-I-N-Y. And beautiful!

We live in Zurich, wanted a night away from the kids and chose Bern and the Hotel Belle Epoque. Bern was great! Well worth a day or two; good restaurants and it's beautiful. The Belle Epoque was NOT worth the 280 Sfr. Let me qualify that by saying that we usually stay in 5-star properties, and don't mind spending a lot if it is worth it. Belle Epoque was not. They must have been understaffed when we visited (Feb. 2005) because help was hard to come by, even to check in. When we finally did get someone to check us in, the woman told us that it had been a crazy day there; she'd been checking people in, cleaning rooms and in the kitchen making the tartar...Ehhhhh, so I wouldn't recommend the tartar... The lobby is TINY. Our room was about average size by European standards. The hotel itself was fairly dark and had a funky smell to it. All in all, it was 'fine'; a great location, but a little run down, a little small.
