Nice Hotel in a lovely town

Stayed for one night with a group. Stayed in the museum part of the hotel. Excellent rooms very clean and the staff is very friendly and greets you every time. Free internet service through cable which worked very well, which I find escpecially good no fuss about it it just works. Price maybe bit high but if you add internet costs + nice accomendations the value is quite good. On the downside the brekafast was quite expensive and quality below average breakfast on similar hotels. Other thing worth mentioning is the nearby church tower its bell rings all through the night so if you are not a sound sleeper you should ask for a room facing away from the tower or in other parts of the hotel. Personally I faced away from the tower and I did not notice the sound of the bell but some members of my group complained over waking up almost hourly through the night But all in all very good friendly hotel in the lovely town of Delft. Great town with a lot of history.

Stayed for business 21-23 Oct, 2007. Overall: Found it to be adequate, but poor value for the price. Even considering the poor exchange rate for the US dollar, one can probably do better for the same money. Location is good - right downtown in the old part of town, walking distance from train and town central square. Beds are very comfortable and the TV gets the same selection of stations that most other Dutch hotels give (mostly domestic, CNN, BBC, and a German, an Italian and a French station I believe). Breakfast is expensive (17.5 euro) for below average buffet and ambiance. Internet was available for a fee, but did not work for a good portion of my stay. This was especially frustrating as a business traveler, but they removed the charge to accomodate the issue. All things considered I would find another hotel next time unless they dropped the price significantly. Hotel Layout: The lobby is on the Phoenixtraat side (closer to the train station). We made the walk from the station and found our way to the museum side, which is on the Oude Delft street (closer to the church and square). There are (3) buildings of the Hotel. The lobby building on Phoenixtraat, the older building on Oude Delft and a middle building on the alleyway in between. These buildings appear to be old houses or apartments. The different buildings are not connected, each has it's own entrance. Rooms: The rooms are basic and fairly spartan. Each is different in layout and in furnishings. My room was on the Oude Delft side and the room itself was well worn, however the bed was nice, soft with a big comforter. The bells ring every half hour 24 hours a day. Since my room faced the courtyard it was not an issue. I did hear the bells when I was awake, but they never woke me. I suspect the rooms with windows overlooking the canal on Oude Delft street are the ones with noise issues. In addition, if you come from the USA you will be out of phase with local time anyway so a full night of sleep is usually difficult to begin with. My room did not have food or fridge. No nightshops nearby so get snacks, drinks and water during the daytime. Lounge: The lounge is in the old building and is fairly charming. The bar personnel were pleasant. They serve Duvel, Leffe and Westmalle, as well as a few other types of beer. Not sure if they have menu service there. Area: Lots of restuarants and shops in the local area. We ate at the Prinsenhoff next to the hotel. Good food, but again - expensive.

I was a touch anxious about this hotel because some of the reviews on trip advisor were somewhat critical/negative; however we were really happy with location and the room. We did manage to get a ‘special weekend promotion’ fee that included breakfast for an amazing 83 euros (for 2 people), so this is possibly why we felt happy with the hotel a facilities. We booked a double room and were allocated one on the 3rd floor. It was quite quirky due to the beams being exposed! The décor was nice and simple; although the size of the room was not massive (maybe due to it being an attic style room) it was also very clean with modern furniture/features. The hotel was made up from 3 separate buildings close to each other and had a bar that opened @ 5pm. The breakfast was good, although it did get a bit busy with guests at 9am! It was about a ten minute walk from the train station. The Delft is a wonderful town that has plenty of restaurants and bars, so for a night stay we were really impressed! I would recommend this hotel and stay again in the future!

Can't sleep at this hotel!!!

We stayed for one night in this hotel and at first it seemed great. Lovely location (although we didn't get a room with a view of the canal). Room was basic - kettle and iron had to be requested which didn't seem to fit with the cost of 140 Euro for the room. But it was clean and comfortable. However, when we heard the church bells still ringing on the hour at 11 at night we started to worry it would keep us up. We were woken up on the hour every hour between 3 and 8 am by the very loud church bells nearby. So lovely hotel but you won't sleep - especially if you're a light sleeper and you get a room near the canal at the back.
